I like Pocket Cards. You know….those cards that have a pocket on the front or inside that lets you slide in in a little note that is on a separate card. I’ve made quite a few…some that had a place for a message inside like this one: Sweet As A Peach Fun Fold Pocket Card. Or a pocket to put in a packet of flower seeds like this one: Ornate Garden Pocket Cards. Or maybe a Triangle Pocket is more your style like this one: Pretty Perennial Triangle Pocket Fun Fold Card . And the latest one I posted had not just one, two pockets, perfect for a note and two bookmarks: Penguin Week Interupt! – Double Pocket Card . So it should be no surprise that I have another Pocket card to share with you that is also another Fun Fold Card too!
The Designer Series Paper is folded to make a pocket so when you flip the card open, this is what you see:
The Designer Series Paper for the this card is called Peaceful Place…all the pieces in this set are in White, Shades of Gray and Silver. And as always, Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series papers are double-sided and this card allows you to show off both sides of the paper on the same card. The picture below doesn’t do it justice however because you can’t see the silver highlights in the photograph.
When making this card you need to be careful not to choose a piece of Designer Series Paper that is Directional vertically on the OUTSIDE of the card fold as due to the fold, the inside pocket piece (stars/snowflakes in the picture below) will have the an upside down design. If the piece of paper you choose has is Directional vertically on the INSIDE, then you will be fine, just be careful when you are cutting the pocket piece to have your paper going in the correct direction.
But you’ll notice the paper I chose is not directional on either side, so I could have just as easily flipped the paper over and put the Buffalo Checked Pattern on the outside
When using the Heartwarming Wishes Stamp Set, you will want to have a Stamparatus handy. That is because the “Merry Christmas” sentiment is long and will not fit on an “H” block. You will need the Stamparatus to get the complete word and the long scroll on the ends. You can see from the picture that it is almost as long as the card is wide (5 1/4″). And if you decided to make multiples of this card (or another card with this same sentiment), having a Stamparatus to use will speed up your card making, especially since you can stamp both sentiments at the same time!
For the first card, I used the Silver Foil Specialty Paper to use as a mat behind my sentiment piece and also to die cut two snowflakes using the the Stitched Snowflakes Dies. I chose those two smaller snowflakes as a Mini Dimensional will fit right in the center of the snowflake so that I could adhere it to the front and then I placed a Rhinestone Basic Gem right in the center for a little more added sparkle.
If you would like to make these cards, you will need the following supplies:
- Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set
- Stitched Snowflake Dies
- Basic White Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
- Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper – Cut 5 1/4″ x 12″; Score on the LONG side at 4″ and 8″
- Silver Foil Specialty Paper – Cut 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″; plus scraps for two snowflakes
- Basic White Cardstock –
- Cut 5 1/4″ x 1 1/4″
- Cut 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
- Basic Gray Cardstock (Or Silver Foil Specialty) – Cut 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″
- Ink: Basic Gray
- Basic Rhinestone Jewels
- Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue (or Stampin’ Seal);, Mini Dimensionals
- Tools: Paper Trimmer, Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Stamparatus
