I’m not really sure what to call the special fold on this card….except to say it is a FUN fold! It’s similar to a Double Z fold (like in this post: Snail Mail Fun Fold) but the “extra Z” is not as wide and big and in the middle like in that post….it’s skinny and along the bottom. Maybe Skinny Double Z fold? This is the card when it is closed.
And this is the card when it is fully opened. See how the small strip along the bottom is the other “Z” fold? The 11″ x 4 1/4″ card base and the 11″ x 1 1/4″ strip are scored the same (on the LONG side at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″, but folded the opposite way.
The paper I used is called Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper. This paper is perfect for making cards during the summer….ice cream cones, Popsicles and is great for anyone who loves those summer treats! My husband however thinks ice cream is a year round treat! This set of Designer Series Papers will be retiring on May 3rd, so if you like this paper, you’ll want to purchase some as soon as possible as retiring products are only available while supplies last. The coordinating stamp set, Sweet Ice Cream, however will be carried over into the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog that comes out May 4th, but not at the bundle pricing (10% off for the stamp set and Ice Cream Builder Punch).
One of the papers in the set (top right) resembles a “waffle cone”, so you can use a scrap of that paper to punch out an ice cream cone (like the card on the left) or you can stamp the cone (and the cross-hatch) and make your own cone like the card on the right. Which one do you like better? You can also punch out “scoops) from the rectangle blotchy shapes for the scoops too.
There are lots of ways to change this card around. On the card below I only used two patterns from the set of Designer Series papers, while the one above I used three. And I used a rectangle shape to stamp my sentiment on the front.
The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is rather large and I wanted to use it on the first card….but it didn’t fit into the circle shape. So I grabbed some Post-It Notes and covered up the word I did NOT want to stamp (bithday), inked it up, REMOVED the Post-it and stamped the word “Happy”. Then I repeated those same steps (covered the word happy) so I could stamp the word “Birthday”
I did that same masking technique on this card on the inside sentiment. In case you didn’t notice, I only used two different patterns of Designer Series on this card instead of three.

I hope you’ll give this a try! And if you want some inspiration, check out these cards made by several of my friends when we met on Zoom to craft together: Alison used the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper….There are several blue & white designs included in this pack and they make beautiful cards!
Sharon also used the same Dandy Garden Designer Series paper, but she used other papers, so even though it’s the same set of papers, a completely different look:
And the card by Jackie Bruns is beautiful too! She used one of the papers from the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper that was part of Jan-Feb Sale-A-Bration. The flower on her card, she cut directly from the paper….Another great way to use up your papers! She makes alot of specialty cards and I would encourage you to check out her website – Cactus Corner Creations
Now it’s your turn. Find some paper and make your own version of this card!
Happy Stamping!
