Want to double your fun when making cards? Use a Fun Fold Design and choose a fun set of Designer Series Papers. Like this card:
Sometimes it can be hard to come up with some more “man-ly” type cards. But when I saw the snail with the mustache and little bow tie, I knew he would make a good birthday card. Although to be honest, when I first saw him, I thought he was a walrus, not a snail. I am pretty sure it was the mustache.
This was such a cute card, I thought it might be nice to make a more feminine version, so I switched colors of the card from blues and yellow, to red and pinks. And I also changed the design on the front, using different patterns from the same set of Snail Mail Designer Series Paper but fussy cutting different images – a different snail and also several mushrooms.
This card design is called a Double Z Fun Fold. When you open the card it looks like this:
Here is a like more of a bird’s eye view:
Can you see the “Zee”? The base of the card forms a large “Z” and the smaller card forms a little “z”. Hence the name Double “Z” Fold.
So where did I get the cute snails and mushrooms? Right from the Snail Mail Designer Series Papers. If you don’t own the stamp set….or just want something quick and easy, fussy cutting is the way to go. Or in this case – partial fussy cutting. One of the dies in the Snail Dies actually matches the image on the papers, so you can die cut right from the paper. The smaller snail and the hello word balloons can be die cut as well. And there are several other smaller snails, envelopes, letters that you can fussy cut too!
I fussy cut the two snails, the mushrooms and the small pile of gifts. What do you do when the large mushroom you want to use is at the edge of the paper. You cut it out and then place it right on the edge of the piece of cardstock. Now it looks like you cut if off on purpose! So pay attention to the images on the edge of the papers….don’t throw them away, use them on a card!
If you would like to try this card, these are the supplies you will need:
- Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”. Score and fold (accordant style) on the long side at 5 1/2” and 8 1/4”
