Art Gallery Bridge Fold

I love to try new things, especially when it comes to making cards. And making Fun Fold Cards.  You might think that I’ve done a lot of fun fold cards and how could there be more…but here is another one.  I’ve seen cards with this fold before, but this is my first time trying and actually making one.  It is called a Bridge Fold card

And you can see why it’s called a Bridge Fold as the piece across the bottom bridges the two sides.  This is super easy to make and I’m sure I’ll be making a few more too!

I used several items from the Fine Art Floral Suite – just about everything but the embossing folder….The Art Gallery Stamp set and coordinating Floral Gallery Dies, the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and the Golden Garden Specialty Acetate and for a little extra added elegance…the Gilded Leaf Embellishment.

The Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate is three different sheets that “match” up as an overlay to pieces of the Fine Art Gallery Designer Series Paper.  The best way to cut them (to make sure the overlay pieces are over the correct part of the paper is to lay the acetate piece on top of the Designer Series Paper and then cut it like you were cutting one piece of paper.  That way the designs will line up together properly.

On the left above the two pieces are separate and on the right, they are laid on top of each other.  You can see how the design on the acetate matches the designs of the paper.

I also used a little Gilded Leafing Embellishment on the stamped flower that is on the bridge piece.  It adds a little shine to the flower and matches with the gold on the acetate pieces.  You can check out another card I where I also used this technique here: Art Gallery Fun Fold with Gilded Leafing.  There is also a video link on that post that shows how to use the Gilded Leafing Embellishment in case you need a little help.

If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need:

  • Art Gallery Bundle (Art Gallery Stamp Set and Floral Gallery Dies
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock
    • Cut 4 1/4″ x 8″; Score  & fold on the LONG side at 1 1/4″, 2 1/2″, 5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″
    • Cut 5 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ (bridge piece)
  • Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper
    •  Lay the following pieces on top of each other to match the design then cut together four vertical strips 1″ x 4″ : Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and  Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate
    • Cut 5 1/4″ x 1″ (bridge piece)
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock – Cut 2 3/4″ x 4″
  • Basic White Cardstock
    • – Cut 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
    • Scrap for flower
  • Ink: Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade
  • Gilded Leafing
  • Heat & Stick Powder
  • Heat Tool
  • Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal and Dimensionals
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

And one quick little tip.  When you cut the Fine Art Floral Designer Series paper and Golden Garden Specialty Acetate, cut it into a  4” x 4” piece first and then cut into 1” vertical strips. The two pieces on the sides will match and look like one continuous piece.  You can see what I mean by looking at the left side of the picture above (and the right side of the first picture in this blog post).  See how the design continues around the corner??

Give this card a try and let me know what you think!

Happy Stamping!

Patricia
