As I write this I am sitting in my craft room and listening to hits from the 60’s and what should come up but Chubby Checker’s “The Twist”. You can listen to it here: Chubby Checker’s The Twist. I am taking it as good omen that I just happened to be writing my this post for a Twisted Easel Card. This is what it looks like when it is closed.
And this is what happens when you “twist” it to open.
The front of the card “twists” and will stand up with the help of the flower on the inside of the card that is adhered using dimensionals. The dimensional pops the flower up just enough that the bottom edge of the card will catch so that it will stay standing up. How fun is that?
This card is made using the In Bloom Bundle…..which is the In Bloom Stamp Set and the Pierced Blooms Dies that you can see here.
If you have followed my blog for a little bit, you might know that for a die set like this one, I like to die cut a few extra…..ok, who am I kidding, I die cut every die with each of the colors that are in the paper I am using… Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper. So I have an entire tray full. And yes, I even cut leaves in all the colors….like Night of Navy and Seaside Spray and I cut flowers in shades of green – Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.
Those are the colors that are in the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper. This paper just retired when the Sale-A-Bration promotion ended at the end of February. But I have I quite a bit of that paper and this is the perfect time to use it up. Two of the colors in that paper are part of the 2018-2020 In Colors that will be retiring on May 3rd….Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray. So this was a chance to use up some of the related retiring items like those cardstock.
This is a little close-up of the flowers. Don’t you just love the detail on these flowers? I think this die set is one that you can use with just about any paper…..just cut the flowers from pieces of cardstock to match the colors in your Designer Series Paper. You can see another card I made using these dies here: In Bloom Fun Fold
I also made another card using the same design but with a softer color palette using Seaside Mist and Soft Sea Foam and one of the other papers from this same pack of paper.
There are probably thousands of ways to combine the different flower parts. I’ve found the easiest way to layer these is to use Glue Dots. You can press your piece right on the glue dot, then pull it off the backing and start layering. Some of the pieces are too small to use Stampin’ Seal and the Multipurpose Liquid Glue can get a little messy with small pieces….Glue Dots is so easy, fast and convenient. And there are no wrong combinations, just play with them and make it up as you go!
If you would like to try this Twisted Easel Card, these are the supplies that you will need:

Of course you can make this card using any of Stampin’ Up’s Cardstock and Coordinating Designer Series Papers. Here are a few examples that some of my stampers made. The first one is made by Sharon O’Brian using the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper. She used a dragon fly as her “stopper piece” on the inside of the card.
The second card is made by Jackie Bruns. She had a little extra fun with her Snail Mail Designer Series Paper and added a Graduation cap to her “stopper piece”. What a great idea! (Check out her shop Cactus Corner Creations).
The third card is another great idea. Alison James used the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper to fussy cut the sea turtles and the Whale that she used for her “stopper piece”.
These are all great cards and just shows a small sampling of fun cards that you can make using Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper and the Twisted Easel Fun Fold design.
So what will your card be? I’d love for you to share your card!
