Folding Fun With Free as a Bird

I was looking for something different to do with my limited stamp sets, so I decided that I needed to try and do some different types of folding my cards.  So instead of the traditional side or top fold, I branched out a little and tried something new.

Laying down flat it just looks like a regular card….but stand it up and lookee there….it’s not!

It’s just extra little fold on the front, but it really makes a fun little card a bit more special.

So easy to do!  I also tried to color my bird in the sentiment the same as one of the birdies in the Designer Series Paper to give it a more cohesive look.

To make the bird look like it’s sitting on a branch, I stamped the bird on a Post-it note and cut it out, then used it as a mask while I stamped the leaf in two different directions. I removed the Post-it note and then stamped the bird.  Very simple.  I also colored the leaf a little different (not because I meant to, but because I didn’t read the label on the Stampin’ Blends marker, I was just going by the color of the cap!)  So the leaves are a combination of Mossy Meadow Dark and Old Olive Dark.  I actually like the way it came out, so don’t think you have to use matching light and dark of the same color to get a good effect!  Mix it up a bit!

If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:
