Pretty Papers

I’m still in Korea….and I’ve been doing a little shopping.  It’s not clothes, trinkets or souvenirs that draw my eye into the tiny little shops….it’s the card’s and the paper!  I can pass by all the trendy clothes, the teas, the soaps, the ceramics (well, except for the cute little cow I showed you in this post.  My eyes are on the look-out for paper!  I might have a papercrafting problem.  I’ve found lots of little envelopes with pretty patterns.  They are long and narrow….about 6 3/4” x 3 1/8”.  Just envelopes….no cards to go with them.

I was informed by my daughter that the envelopes are for giving money….instead of giving presents for weddings, birthday, etc they give money.   They come 5 to a package for 1,000 won (which is about 84 cents at the current exchange rate.  Although I did find a package of 12 for the same amount!)   I decided to cut some of them up and make cards. One of the pretty flowered paper envelopes I found was a great match for the new Rococo Rose color!  See how pretty they look together?

Every year when Stampin’ Up releases a new catalog, they also release FIVE new In-Colors.  These colors stay around for two years and then they are retired.     You can find these colors featured in cardstock, inks & refills, ribbons, markers, Stampin’ Blends and embellishments. The 2019-2021 new In-Colors  are:  Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray and Purple Posy.

Stampin’ Up does sell doilies….but I didn’t bring any with me on this trip…but I managed to find some cute little ones:

I gave it a little color by using my clear stamping block and inking it with the ink pad, stamping off once to remove a little of the ink, and then gently rubbing it across the top.  Normally I would use a sponge….but I didn’t bring a sponge with me, so I improvised.  When you don’t have all your supplies…sometimes you can just make it up…and still get good results!
