Cow’s It Going??

I have been having so much fun with the new OVER THE MOON Stamp set….just “Udderly” too much fun!  If one cow on a card is fun….then a bunch is simply “Moovalous” right?  Especially when you pile them on top of each other.  This is not my original idea, but I’ve seen several versions and not sure who is the originator…so if you’re reading this and it was you, please let me know so I can give you credit!

I wrote this while I was still in Seoul, South Korea and didn’t have access to all my papers, so I bought some Calligraphy Cardstock (very similar to Watercolor Cardstock) and did a light brush over with a large paintbrush in Old Olive ink for the grass and Balmy Blue ink for the sky.   An AquaPainter would be perfect for doing this, but somehow that didn’t make it into my suitcase.

There are three cow stamps in the OVER THE MOON stamp set and I used all three to make a little cow pyramid.

The three cows stack pretty well so they look like the might actually be standing on top of one another.  Unfortunately, the OVER THE MOON stamp set doesn’t come with coordinating dies to cut out the cows, so I grabbed my PAPER SNIPS and fussy cut them out.  Remember to leave a little white around the edge as you cut….don’t cut directly on your stamped line!

And the inside just has a simple sentiment….”Cow’s it Going?”  Cute little play on words to give someone a little giggle and put a smile on their face.  Who can resist a good pun? And as you can see there above that there are several in this stamp set.

If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:

GENERAL SUPPLIES

  • Over the Moon Stamp Set
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive and Pool Party
  • Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Smokey Slate, Pink Pirouette (retired, but Petal Pink is a good substitute), Daffodil Delight and Old Olive
  • SNAIL adhesive
  • Paper Snips

CARD

  • Balmy Blue Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score and fold at 4/14”
  • Watercolor Cardstock – Cut two pieces 5 1/4” x 4” (one for outside, one for inside)
  • Whisper White Cardstock – scraps for 3 cows

And just for fun….I decided that these cows needed to be even more fun….so I made a few purple cows and put them on a “lawn” of Granny Apple Green which I made using the Granny Apple Green Light Stampin’ Blend Marker and then stamping little tufts of grass. I filled those in a little bit with the Granny Apple Green Dark Stampin’ Blend Marker.

    1. I like your cards! Thank you for sharing them with me. I did not know that you had other websites so I had no idea that you were also a card maker and pen pal writer! What fun! It’s nice to see that your stamps are still being used! I have only been stamping/making my own cards for about 18 months…..hopefully 20 years from now I’ll still be using my older stamps too.
