Playing in the Rain Peek-a-Boo Card

I’m trying to catch up with posting on my blog, so let’s hop right to it!  I mean that figuratively and literally because today’s card is an Easter card and features the cutest little bunny!

Is that not the cutest bunny?  And he’s peeking out the hole in the card which you can see better below:

And the card even expands just a little bit more so you can see that there is plenty of room to write a note….or stamp a sentiment!

That sweet little bunny is from the Playing in the Rain stamp set, which also has a matching die set.  Did you notice that the dies not only will cut out the images from the stamp set but that there are also extra dies to help you create a little background scene – a fence, grass, a tree stump, butterflies, a kite and even bow ties to dress your bunny up for those formal occasions.  And lucky for you, the Playing in the Rain Bundle has just come back into stock!  (I was actually waiting to post this until the items were available for purchase!)

And….check out the coordinating Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper.  You can use the Playing in the rain Dies above to cut out images directly from the paper…all three of the fun critters – bunny, fox and turtle, as well as one of the folded umbrellas.  It’s hard to see in the picture, but the rain drop sheet also has a little “shine” to it to make the raindrops look like they are glistening.

Did you wonder how I “colored” the bunny’s shirt?  To make that, I stamped the bunny image on a piece of the designer series paper.  I then used my Paper Snips to fussy cut just the shirt.  You will want to cut right on the outside of the stamped line around the shirt.  Then it’s just super simple to dress the bunny by adhering  the DSP Shirt directly on the stamped bunny image.

If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need:

  • Playing the Rain Bundle (Playing in the Rain Stamp set & Dies
  • Dies: Layering Circles Dies and Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock –
    • Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” – Score at 4 1/4”,
    • Scrap for 2 3/4” Scalloped Circle
  • Basic White Cardstock –
    • Cut 8” x 5 1/4”, Score on the LONG side at 4” and 6” – Fold accordion style,
    • plus a scrap for 2 1/4” Circle and for stamping
    • Cut 3 3/4” x 1 1/4 – Die cut banner
  • Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper
    • Cut 4” x 5 1/4” (Striped Pattern)
    • Cut two pieces 1 3/4” x 5” (flowered pattern)
    • Scrap of flowered pattern to stamp/fussy cut shirt
  • Ink: Tuxedo Memento Black
  • Stampin’ Blends Markers: Flirty Flamingo
  • White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon – 2 pieces
  • Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid glues, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

And what about this bow?  Did you know that you can use the Stampin’ Blends Markers to color ribbon?  I used a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Marker  to color one piece of ribbon and then tied then both together into a bow.  Super easy and gives this bow a little extra oomph.

Hope you’ll give this card a try!

Happy Stamping!

  1. Hi Patricia,
The measurement for the white cardstock for the inside of the card should be 8″ by 5 1/4″. Otherwise the DSP measurements for the accordion folds won’t work. I hope this makes sense.

      1. Yes! You are correct! I corrected the post with the correct dimensions. Bad typing on my part as I went back to my directions for the card (Yes, I do that for every card I make) and I had it correct on my directions. I appreciate your letting me know!

  2. Help i love this card. What is the secret getting the scallop lined up with the back accordion easily? It is kicking my butt. Do you dimensional? On the right side? I can’t find no tutorials for your card. Looks like such an easy card, but I’m having issues. Can you give me a couple tips please.

    1. Hi! I sent you an email with a short video that should help. But here are a few quick directions that should help as well.
      1. Adhere 4” x 5 1/4” DSP to front of card base. Place adhesive only around the outside, not the middle.
      2. Using the Scallped Circle Die, Die cut the hole in the front flap. This will leave you with a hole on the card front and you have the Scalloped Circle piece of Cardstock (for this card) and a Scalloped Circle cut from DSP to use on another card.
      3. Adhere the two 1 3/4” x 5” DSP panels to the 8” x 5 1/4” piece of Basic White Cardstock. Fold it and adhere the piece to the right side of the inside of the card base.
      4. Close the card. You’ll see a partial piece of the folded up Basic White piece/with DSP through the circle cut out of the front. Place adhesive (I use Multipurpose Liquid Glue) on the the folded up accordion piece/DSP ONLY. Place the Scalloped Circle that you have cut out into the hole where it was cut. Gently rub to make sure it is adhered. Open the card. The Scalloped circle is now perfectly aligned on the accordion folded piece.

      Hope that helped!
