General Cards, Paradise Palms, Seasonal - Summer

A Paradise Palms Sunset

am still on vacation and still looking for that beautiful sunset. We are staying on the east (Caribbean) side of Ambergris Caye, Belize, so to see the sunset necessitates a dinner trip to a restaurant on the ”lagoon” side. Although the days have been beautiful, it’s been cloudy and hazy at night, so the best sunset we have seen is this:

It doesn’t quite live up to my expectations of a beautiful sunset, so thought I would share a card I made a few weeks ago instead.

I used two pieces of Basic White Cardstock that were both the same size.  Using one of the pieces, I  die cut a large circle where I wanted my sun to be.   I then placed the die cut piece on top of the other piece and used several post-it notes to hold it down on my work surface.  Using a Blending Brush and Daffodil Delight Ink pad, I lightly covered the lower half of the circle by just brushing back and forth.  I started off the side so I wouldn’t get a “clump” of color.  I then added a layer of Mango Melody ink covering the middle part of the circle and blending with the bottom and then added a layer of Pumpkin Pie ink starting at the top and working my way down until I thought it was blended how I wanted.  I always start off lightly as it is easy to add more color as needed.

I used the Paradise Palms Stamp Set and Early Espresso Ink to stamp the palm trees and sand and seagulls

You don’t have to look that closely to see that I messed up a little on the side when I dropped my seagull stamp – oops!  I really liked how my sun came out, so no need to start over.  Mistakes are OK when you are hand making cards!  The seagull stamp is from the On The Horizon Stamp Set.  There is also a single seagull you could use that is part of the Waves of Inspiration Stamp Set.
