If you need a last minute small treat gift idea that takes less than 10 minutes to make, then you are in the right place. How cute are these?
Little candy cane treats. Perfect for handing out to co-workers, mailmen, grocery store clerks, restaurant workers, friends. I can think of a whole bunch of people that might like a little something to brighten their day. And they are so easy to make too!
I purchased the candy canes at Dollar Tree. They are small sized candy canes, about 4 1/2” long and come in a box of 12. I was going to say that they were only $1.00, but apparently that is a thing of the past as everything in the Dollar Store is now $1.25! But still a bargain to make these. The Cardstock strips are 2” x 7”, so you can get 6 out of one piece of 8 1/2” x 11” piece of cardstock if you cut it like this:
I used the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper and it’s the perfect paper for this project.
You only need a piece 1 3/4” x 6” for each treat holder and any of the patterns will work. I paired mine with Real Red and Pear Pizzazz cardstock, used Real Red Sheer Ribbon to tie the candy canes on and added a few sparkles with the Real Red Rhinestones.
Don’t they look pretty all lined up? You might have noticed that two of them don’t look quite like the others. When I started making them, I used the Layering Circles Dies to die cut a scalloped circle, but when I started making more, I switched to my 1 3/4” Circle Punch as it was faster!
And there is one more that is different too! I decided that this would also make a good gift tag for a gift I was giving, so I punched an extra hole in the top and threaded a piece of thin Real Red Ribbon through it, so I could tie it on to the gift.
If you would like to make these treats, these are the supplies you will need:
- Sweets and Treats Stamp Set (sentiment)
- Layering Circle Dies OR 1 1/2” Circle Punch (retired) and 1 3/4” Circle Punch (retired)
- Small Candy Canes (about 4 1/2” long)
- Real Red / Pear Pizzazz Cardstock – Cut 2” x 7”, Score on the LONG side at 5 1/4” and 5 3/4”, plus a scrap for 1 3/4” circle/scalloped circle
- Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper – Cut 1 3/4” x 6”. (Cut 1” of the bottom of the LONG side so you have two pieces, one 1 3/4” x 5” and 1 3/4” x 1”)
- Basic White Cardstock – Scrap for 1 1/2”Circle
- Real Red Sheer Ribbon (about 10” -12” for each)
- Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels
- Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
- Tools: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, C Block, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
