Seasonal - Winter, Snowbody Better

Snowbody Better….CASing the Catalog

Have you ever been stuck for an idea?  One of the best places to look for ideas is to check out the Stampin’ Up! Catalog or the Stampin’ Up! website.  For the website, search for the Stamp Set (or product) you are using and usually there is a picture or two of the product used on a card or other project.  You can copy it exactly….or change it up a bit with a little bit of your own spin on the card.  That’s what I did for the card I am sharing today.  This is a sample of a card that is pictured with the stamp set Snowbody Better on page 28 of the July-December Mini Catalog.

The background is a little too dark for me, and I’m not a fan of the Cinnamon Cider ink outline of the snowmen.  So I changed it to this:

Here are the two cards side by side:

You can see that I used the same general design, but with a few changes.  I decided to change the base card from Misty Moonlight Cardstock to Basic White Thick Cardstock and then used a piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock die cut with the Scalloped Contours Dies.  I did do the same color/on color stamping technique for the background using Balmy Blue ink to match the cardstock.

I also used the Wonderful Snowflakes behind the fussy cut image, but they are placed a bit different and I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Basic White Cardstock instead of embossing it.

I added a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels and also used a bit of Wink of Stella on my Snowment to make them glisten.  (You know like in the song Winter Wonderland….In the lane, snow is glistenin…  If you look closely, you can see a bit of glimmer.

Would you like to try this card too?  These are the supplies you’ll need:

  • Snowbody Better Stamp Set
  • Scalloped Contour Dies
  • Basic White Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score and fold at 4 1/4”
  • Balmy Blue Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4” to die cut with Scalloped Contour Die, and a piece Cut 5 1/4″ x 1/4″
  • Basic White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”, plus a scrap for sentiment and a piece for the stamped snowmen image (about 3 1/2″ x 3 3/4″)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Balmy Blue
  • Stampin’ Blends Markers: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pumpkin Pie and Balmy Blue
  • Snowflake Wonder Embellishment (two)
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Wink of Stella
  • Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal, Dimensionals
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Clear Blocks: C & I

And put a little something on the inside too.  I added a 5 1/4” x 1/4” strip along the bottom and stamped a few snowflakes at the top….still plenty of room to write a message to a friend.

So what would you do with the same inspiration picture?  Please comment below!  I would love to hear your ideas!

Happy Stamping!

Patricia
