Penguin Week – Card #2

You would think that with an entire week that I could make more than 2 cards.  Nope, not this week.  I’m still playing catch-up after being away from home for almost 6 weeks with no craft supplies.  And now that I have an entire room-ful?  And new ones to boot?  I’m so overwhelmed with having so much to do that I’m not getting anything done.  And throw in a furniture and box delivery – 86 boxes (that includes 12 pieces of furniture, well you see where my week has gone.

But I did have time to make this fun card….penguins!

This card is very similar to a card I made last October as a Halloween Treat Holder.  You can see that card here.  But it’s turned the opposite direction and the measurements are smaller.  I did a little bit of tweaking to get it to come out correctly.  Here’s a little side view for you.

The papers I chose for the background are from the Penguin Playmate Designer Series Paper.  This set of papers is part of the Sale-A-Bration event that is happening now through September 30th.  For every $50 product purchase (not including shipping/tax, you can choose a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.

The penguins on the front of the card are so cute and are a snap to make with the Penguin Builder Punch (that just so happens to coordinate with the Penguin Place Stamp Set!)

If you look closely, you will see that those penguins are sparkly!  I punched the bodies out of a piece of Black Glitter Paper, then added their little Basic White body “front”, stamped some eyes, beaks, plus two scarves and hats that I stamped and then fussy cut, and they were done!

The penguins are on adhered to the card front with dimensionals.  The scarves are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the easiest way to put the hat on the penguin is to use a Mini Dimensional and then place it so the brim of the hat is slightly over the top of the penguin’s head.

If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:

  • Penguin Place Bundle (Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch
  • Wintry Embossing Folder (Snow)
  • Basic White Thick Cardstock
