General Cards, In The Wild

In the Wild….Take One

Just a little quick tip today……You do not have to own a stamp set that coordinates with a particular set of Designer Series Paper to be able to use it to make cards. That is precisely what happened with this set of Designer Series Papers called In the Wild. As you can see, there are plenty of tigers and leopards (or are they cheetahs?) and what I would called “jungle themed” papers.

This paper is just not my jam.  So why did I purchase it and what do I do with it?  Every time a new catalog comes out, I do a Paper Share.  Those who are interested can get a little of every set of Designer Series Papers in the new catalog so they have a variety to play with and make cards.  Sometimes I will have an extra share or two left over, which means I get to play with paper I would not normally buy….like this one.  There is a stamp set that coordinates with this paper, but who needs that when you can just take a pair of paper snips and do a little fussy cutting?  This is the result.

A little Evening Evergreen Cardstock, a mix of two of the paper patterns In the Wild Designer Series papers, ribbon and a fussy cut tiger and you are all set……a card!   That tiger looks stamped though doesn’t he?

The sentiment I chose is from the Lovely You Stamp Set.  I thought the sentiment went perfectly with the “wild” theme of the card.  This is one of those stamp sets that you keep long after it is no longer available in the catalog….but  you are in luck, this stamp set is still available for purchase!

If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:

  • Lovely You Stamp Set (sentiment)
  • Layering Circles Dies
  • Evening Evergreen Cardstock –
    • Cut 4 ¼” x 11”; Score at 5 ½ (card base)
    • Cut 3 ½” x 3 ½” (scalloped circle)
  • In the Wild Designer Series Paper
    • Cut 4” x 5 ¼ (fern pattern)
    • Cut 4” x ½” (fern pattern -inside)
    • Cut 2” x 5 ¼” (flower pattern)
    • Fussy Cut Tiger of your choice
  • Basic White Cardstock
    • Cut 3 ⅛” x 3 ⅛” (circle)
    • Cut  1/2” x 3” (notch ends) sentiment)
    • Cut 4” x 5 ¼” (inside)
  • Ink: Evening Evergreen
  • Evening Evergreen Sheer Ribbon (about 18”)
  • Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Glue Dots, Mini Dimensionals
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

I hope you will give this simple card a try.  You can also adapt this same design to other Designer Series Paper that has images that you can fussy cut (flowers, pets, plants, etc).

Happy Stamping!

Patricia
