Today I am sharing another Fun Fold card…..I’m not actually sure what the name of this kind of fold is….a Triangle Fun Fold? There are 2 triangles on the ends. A Twisting Fun Fold? The card does twist when you open it. The only thing I do know is it folds and it was fun to make!
And as you can see, I made more than one! This card has an unusual way of opening. Once you untie the ribbon, hold on to the right angle of both of the triangle and pull!
Even though the card starts out horizontal….once you pull on the triangles corner, it opens up horizontal to reveal a little bit of unexpected fun!
Even though I made two cards with a slight change of coordinating cardstock and ribbon, I did use the same set of Designer Series Paper called Snowflake Splendor. There are lots of different patterns included in this set and a fun mixture of blues, pale greens and soft purples, so I choose two of my favorites.
If you are going to have snow on your paper, you might as well make (or stamp) a snowman on your card too. The Snowman Season Stamp Set was one of my favorite stamp sets last year and it was so popular that Stampin’ Up brought it back this year. This stamp set can be found in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog as a returning favorite. And although I didn’t use it in this card, there is also a coordinating Snowman Builder Punch
After I stamped the snowmen in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I used several Stampin’ Blends markers to color them – Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather and I even threw in a little Just Jade for the tree and Pumpkin Pie for the nose.
I also did a little bit of an outline on the snowmen using my Balmy Blue Light Stampin’ Blends marker and following the black stamped lines. It gives the snowman a little bit of a shadow and definition and keeps him from blending in with the white background.
I also did a little bit of experimenting. Did you notice that on this card the matting around the snowman is scalloped? I cut that square using the Layering Squares Dies. Just trying to see how different it would look. Which one do you like better? With the scalloped square above or without like the card below?
If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Night of Navy Cardstock – Cut two pieces 10 1/4” x 4”; Score and fold each one at 5 1/2”
- Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper – Cut 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”, plus cut two pieces 1/2” x 3 3/4”
- Coordinating Cardstock – (Night of Navy/Highland Heather) cut 3 3/4” x 3 3/4”, plus a piece cut 2 3/4” x 2 3/4”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 3 3/4” and a piece cut 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”
- Ribbon – about 18”
- Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
- Stampin’ Blends Markers: Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Just Jade, Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake
- Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal
- Tools: Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Bone Folder (and a ruler and pencil!)
This fun fold card as a little twist and turn, so the best way to show you how to put this card together is to use this little diagram and watch the video to see how it is put together. (Pay no attention to the white-out on the side of the diagram….my mistake in measuring!)
