I loved to jump rope when I was younger. It was always a race to get to the jump ropes at recess so we could be first on the playground so we had a space to jump Double Dutch. But Double Dutch is not only for jumping, it also for fun when you are making cards with a Double Dutch Fold.
If you raise up the front panel,, which looks a little bit like a roof in the picture above, there are two doors that you can open to see the inside. It’s like going into a house to see what’s inside. Is that not fun??
The original card that I saw using this design was a 5″ x 7″ card, but I wanted it to be a regular A2 sized card (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″), so I adjusted the measurements. The base cardstock piece is cut 4 1/4″ x 9″ and then scored at 5 1/2″. The fold is at the top just like a tent card. The two pieces that make up the two doors are cut 2 5/8″ x 2 1/2″ and then scored at 1/2″ on the 2 5/8″ side (long side). These two pieces are placed on the card by putting adhesive on the 1/2″ flap and then adhering to the bottom left (and right) of the inside of the card. The edge of the fold on the smaller piece should line up with the side edge of the card base.
And don’t worry about seeing the flap on the inside, the Designer Series Paper and Whisper White Cardstock layer will cover that right up.
When you are adding the sentiment tag to the front, remember to only adhere it to the door front on the left. If you attach it to the both….you will have “locked” the doors shut and you won’t be able to open the card.
If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Basic Gray Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4″ x 9″ – Score at 5 1/2″, plus two pieces cut 2 5/8″ x 2 1/2″

I hope you will give this a try!
The new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine will be available to order on September 1st! As a Demonstrator, I was able to pre-order one during the month of August. It arrived on Monday….and I can’t say enough good things about it! It’s easy to use, easy, smooth sending the dies and embossing machine through the machine and best of all it folds up so it takes up a smaller footprint on my craft desk….leaving me more room to create! There are also easy instructions right on the base plate of how to make the “sandwiches” for both die cutting and embossing. Plus all the plates are numbered, so there is no confusion of what to use! You can find it in the Annual Catalog on pages 170-172. Presently only the larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss is available. The Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss is not available yet….but it’s coming in the next few months!
