Christmas Split Front Cards

I told you in my last post that I was having fun with making these Split Front Cards.  Not only is the card design versatile….you can adapt it for many occasions, but so is the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper I used.  You can see and read about the first two cards here: Split Front Cards with Forever Fern

One of my first thoughts after I made a few of these Split Front Cards was that it would make a great Christmas Card.  So I pulled out some retired Designer Series Paper called Wrapped in Plaid (you can easily substitute the current Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper).

I added some Gold Foil along the inside edges to bring out the gold accents in the paper.  I used the Beautiful Boughs Dies to die cut a branch, two pinecones, and the Frosted Bouquet Dies for the holly berries.  A little Cherry Cobbler Diagonal Striped Ribbon and a Christmas sentiment and I was done!

Then I got to looking at the Forever Greenery Designers Series Paper that I had used on yesterday’s cards.  Did you notice that there are pine boughs in the design??  So that sent me back to make another card with that same paper, but this time with a Christmas theme.

F44F3926-D97B-41F0-A320-AB07C1AAC1A8Have I mentioned that I keep all my extra die cuts and pieces from previous cards?  Sometimes I cut too many, some are left over from classes that I had.  There are times when I do a class that I provide the pieces and they pick and choose what they would like to use.

So I had some pine boughs, pinecones and silver glimmer leaves left from a project last Christmas.  I thought I had blogged about them….but apparently not, so there they are:

So do not throw away your extra pieces….you never know when inspiration will hit and you might want to use them again!

See how those pine branch die cuts perfectly match the branches in the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper?  It was like it was meant to be!

So use your imagination and choose a favorite paper and try this card design!  The supply list is below:

  • Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper / Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper
  • Dies: Beautiful Boughs, Peaceful Pines, and Frosted Bouquet
  • Garden Green Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 1/2”, plus two pieces cut 3/4” x 6” and scraps for the optional die cuts)

FFBB1619-BD21-49B3-9DF0-72A9F81FFC70The new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine will be available to order on September 1st!  As a Demonstrator, I was able to pre-order one during the month of August.  It arrived on Monday….and I can’t say enough good things about it!  It’s easy to use, easy, smooth sending the dies and embossing machine through the machine and best of all it folds up so it takes up a smaller footprint on my craft desk….leaving me more room to create!  There are also easy instructions right on the base plate of how to make the “sandwiches” for both die cutting and embossing.  Plus all the plates are numbered, so there is no confusion of what to use!  You can find it in the Annual Catalog on pages 170-172.  Presently only the larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss is available.   The Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss is not available yet….but it’s coming in the next few months!

    1. Sorry…..Yes, it is….this year they have the same ribbon but it’s Mossy Meadow Diagonal Striped. When I made this card, I used retired items because I was testing it….I really should make another one with items that are int he current catalog!
