This week I was playing around with the Card Sketch Challenge that I had given my group of stampers. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, I started giving them a challenge every week….we are now up to Week #20!!
And this is the first card that I made:
I tried a little block stamping. Because I knew that I would be having small squares, I used the smallest stamping block – Clear Block A and ink colors that matched the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper –Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze. (although I goofed and accidentally used Sahara Sand ink instead of Crumb Cake). This is beautiful paper with gold foil accents on several of the papers.
I realized after I cut the squares using my Layering Squares Dies, that the surface of the Clear Block A was just a tad too small and didn’t cover the entire area. You can see where the edges of the block were and I wanted something just a bit larger. So back to creating.
So I re-stamped with Clear Block B and this time did all three of the images from the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set in the same Early Espresso color ink.
And here is my second cardL
But then I decided that maybe it was too much color….so I decided to just be simple:
For this card, I substituted a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock that I embossed with the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder for the striped piece of Designer Series Paper. I also finally fixed the ink color….‘this one is stamped in Crumb Cake, you can see that it is just a little darker.
If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies that you need:
Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set
Layering Squares Dies
Early Espresso Cardstock –
Base Card – Cut 4 ¼” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 ½”
Cut – 4” x 2 ¼”
Cut three pieces 1 3/16” (or use layering squares dies)
Very Vanilla Cardstock
Cut 5 ¼” x 4” – Embossed with Tasteful Textiles (substitute DSP)
Cut 5 ¼” x 4” (inside card)
Cut 4” x 2”
Cut three pieces 1” x 1” (or use layering squares – scalloped edge square)
Clear Block C
Ink: Early Espresso and Crumb Cake (Sahara Sand)
Optional: Twine – fold twine in half and tie around top card layer
And here are a few simple directions how to stamp with blocks:
Use the Clear Block B to stamp the background of the three square.
Place the block directly on the ink pad and then stamp a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Do this 3 times.
Stamp the image in Early Espresso Ink and die cut out using the Layering Squares Dies.
Attach pieces as shown.
Here are the cards side by side. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
Happy Stamping!
