Simple Forever Fern

Nothing is better than a simple card.  I missed easing into Monday….so today I am tackling Tuesday instead.  This card I’m going to share uses the Forever Greenery Suite of products.  There is a fantastic new stamp set, Forever Fern, and a matching die set called Forever Flourishing that is part of the suite.  When I first got the set, I started out just playing with the stamps and dies to see what everything looked like.  Before I knew it, I had a huge pile….

Then I started just cutting the leaf dies that didn’t need stamping.  You can see I started trying out a bunch of different colors too.  But I stopped myself before I got too crazy.

In the end, I decided to go with something really simple.  I only used one die cut.

I could have used an entire wreath full…and I’ve seen plenty of cards that have.  Some have even seemed to have used my entire pile!  But it just seemed too much and decided to go with the “less is more” principle.

Aren’t those Gold Hoops fun?  They are actually flat on both sides which makes them super easy to adhere to your card.  You can see that I used a tiny hole punch to punch a hold near the top of my squares.  I looped the Gold Thread around the Gold Hoop and then put one of the ends through the hole and just tied the thread in a bow.   You could just let the hoop “swing”, but since I had stamped in the middle of the hoop, I decided to put one small glue dot on the back of the hoop and adhere it to the front of the card.  And I also used two glue dots on the back of the leaves to adhere them directly to the top of the hoop.  Super easy and not messy.

If you’d like to make this card, this is what you will need:

  • Lovely You Stamp Set (sentiment)
  • Greenery Embossing Folder
  • Forever Flourishing Dies (leaf)
  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score and fold at 4 1/4”
  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”, plus a square cut 2 3/4” x 2 3/4”, plus a scrap for the leaf
  • Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper cut 2” x 5 1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 2 1/4” x 5 1/8”  (Embossed), plus a square cut from the Stitched Shapes Dies
  • Pretty Peacock Ink
  • Gold Hoop
  • Gold Thread

I hope you’ll try this and let me know how many leaves and ferns you used!

Happy Stamping!

Patricia
