So you can help me solve a dilemma today. Big or Little? I’ve just had an online Bingo class where we made 4 cards and played Bingo. Since everything is online and not everyone has all the stamps, all the cards were designed so that the only stamping needed was the sentiment, which they could choose from any of the ones they have.
I made this card first:
And then I thought…..so many little pieces to keep track of….maybe it was too “busy” looking….so I switched it to this one….less greenery (which meant less die cutting for me!) and bigger flowers (kind of like big sunflowers….but blue, not yellow)
Both cards were made using lots of new items from the 2020-2022 Annual Catalog: the Lovely You Stamp Set, Jar Punch, Forever Flourishing dies, Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder, Small Blossom Punch, Just Jade and Misty Moonlight Cardstock and the Misty Moonlight/Silver Bakers Twine. What better way to show off all the new items than to combine them all on one card?!
I’ve been using the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder a lot lately. It’s just enough of a texture to give some dimension to your card, but also subtle enough that it’s not overpowering. I used it on the Misty Moonlight cardstock piece, but I also used it to give the flowers a little texture so they wouldn’t seem so “flat”. I really love the look.
If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need:
- Whisper White Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, Score and fold at 4 1/4”
- Just Jade Cardstock – Cut 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, plus a scrap for leaf die cut
- Misty Moonlight Cardstock – Cut 5” x 3 3/4”, plus scraps for flower centers
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut with 2nd largest Stitched So Sweetly die
- Seaside Spray Cardstock – Scrap for jar punch and flowers
- Lovely You Stamp Set – sentiment
- Misty Moonlight Ink
- Dies: Stitched So Sweetly
- Punches: Jar Punch, Small Bloom Punch (large flowers) 1/2” Circle Punch (large flowers), Bitty Blooms Punch Set (small flowers), 1/4” hole punch (small flower centers)
- Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder (background mat, flowers and flower centers)
- Misty Moonlight/Silver Bakers Twine
- Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal, Stampin’ Dimensionals and Multipurpose Liquid Glue
I used dimensionals to pop up the jar and the flowers. The fern die was adhered by adding a little glue to the backside of the stems at the bottom and then sliding it under the jar. So the top of the leaves are not glued down. When you adhere the flowers (with Stampin’ Dimensionals!) they help to hold down the greenery. I like that they look more like greenery/flowers in a jar.
What do you think? Do you like the smaller flowers or the bigger ones? Here they are side by side.
Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite!
