All this week, I’m sharing cards using the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper. It’s a fun blend of tropical flowers, flamingo’s and even a little “blast from the past” old station wagons that we called “woodies” for the wooden panels on the side.
Here’s a closer look….
Isn’t that fun? I feel like I should have some Beach Boys music playing while I write this. I remember listening to their music on an old transistor radio and buying their albums….
For the Crumb Cake Cardstock matting, I used the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. Just a little something extra for that “wood” feel.
Because I thought this is probably the most fun paper, I made a few more cards. Same basic layout, but just changed up the layers a bit and the sentiment. And because this is a different portion of the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper there are some red cars.
I stamped the Crumb Cake background matting on this card with the Birch Stamp. It makes it have the look of a birch tree…of course! I also used the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die to make the little emblem shape that is behind the sentiment.
And here is one more:
I changed up the matting cardstock colors and used Pretty Peacock and Mint Macaron instead of the brown tones. Still a great card for a man. This would make a great card for Father’s Day or birthday…..just change the sentiment.
If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need: (the dimensions are for the first card, but each card used the same measurements just the colors and the sentiments changed)
- Early Espresso Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score and fold at 4 1/4” and also cut a piece 4 1/2” x 3 1/4”, plus a scrap for scalloped oval
- Crumb Cake Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
- Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder (or Birch Stamp)
- Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper (DSP) Cut 4” x 3” (since this paper is directional, be care you cut the long side correctly!). Also cut a strip 1/4” x 5 1/4” for inside of card)
- Whisper White Cardstock – scrap for oval and a piece cut 5 1/4” x 4” (for inside)
- Burlap Ribbon (separate the strands and use two to wrap around card and tie a bow (about 18”)
- Stampin’ Dimensionals (to adhere matted piece with DSP and sentiment piece)
- Early Espresso Ink
- Sentiment Stamp Sets: Seriously the Best, Daisy Lane and Endless Birthday Wishes (retired)
And don’t forget to add a little something to the inside of your card!
