Well, my trip to Puerto Backyarda was cancelled due to rain, so I’ll just continue on with my Tropical Oasis escape through my cards. You can check out my post yesterday to get you started Oh To Be in a Tropical Oasis. Today I am checking out this bold floral pattern:
And yes, you can see from the picture that i also decorated my envelope flap. When you are trying to use up paper, you might as well go all out and have something pretty on the outside of the envelope as well as the inside!
I also used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies for this card. Besides having several scalloped rectangle shapes, there are also a few other shapes. I choose the largest one so that I would have lots of white showing to kind of town down the dark, busy pattern on the paper.
I used a regular hole punch to make a hole on either end so I could thread a piece of ribbon through. I chose a really fun ribbon – Old Olive & Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon.
One of the things that I like about Stampin’ Up ribbon is that both sides have the same design or color. So when you are tying a bow, there is no “wrong side” showing. This ribbon is double sided, so it’s more Old Olive on one side and Pretty Peacock on the other. But it also has a pretty metallic irridescent shine to it too. And it matches perfect with this paper!
If you’d like to make this card, this is what you will need:
- Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper – Cut 4 3/4” x 3 1/2”
- Stitched So Sweetly Dies
- Seriously the Best Stamp Set (sentiment)
- Early Expresso Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” ; Score and fold at 4 1/4”, plus a piece cut 3” x 1 7/8”
- Crumb Cake Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5” x 3 3/4”, plus a scrap to cut sentiment piece (HINT: instead of using a scrap piece, cut the sentiment piece out of the middle of the matting piece. You’ll save a little paper!)
- Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon – 6” piece to go around and about 8” for bow.
- Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue
- Embellishment – I used some retired Dapper Denim Glitter Enamel Dots. Choose your own favorite!
Happy Stamping!
Patricia
