Yes, it’s true….you can stamp on something besides paper! I’ve seen projects stamped on little cloth bags, shirts, coaster tiles, and my favorite….maybe because it’s the only one that I have tried….wood! Small wooden slices, cut from a tree. I have a friend who saved a branch that they cut from the bottom of their Christmas tree and is trying to figure out how to slice it up, sand it, etc, so she can make something. I love to craft, but I don’t have the skills to do sawing & sanding. Which is why my little wood slices came right from Amazon. The ones I purchased are from Arteza and you can find them HERE. I would highly recommend them as the wooden discs are sliced, uniformly sized, already sanded, have pre-drilled holes and even come with the twine for hanging. (And no, I was not paid to endorse these).
It’s was so simple, and literally just took minutes to stamp all 45 that came in the box. I lined them all up, inked up a few stamps that had simple designs and started stamping. I tried both Stazon Jet Black Ink and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
You will need to choose your stamps based on the size of the wood slices to make sure that the entire design will fit. I used two of the stamp sets from the 2019 Holiday Catalog, Snowman Season and Merry Moose, and two retired sets Merry Mice and Spirited Snowmen. I also colored in part of the designs using Stampin’ Blends Markers. Use the thin end and just lightly color in the middle of the design to prevent the color from bleeding.
If you are making these for gifts, it’s easy to make up a pretty package with some clear cellophane bags, some paper shreds, a few Hershey Kisses and a piece of ribbon to tie it all up.
Here is a whole box all ready to be distributed. These also make great craft fair items. I did my first craft fair back in October and sold quite a few of these.
If you’d like to make these, the supplies are simple:
- Wood Slices (can be found at many craft stores or online)
- Stazon Jet Black Ink or Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Stampin’ Blends Markers (Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, Real Red, Call Me Clover, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight)
- Twine or Ribbon for hanging.
And don’t they look cute on a Christmas Tree?
Happy Stamping! And Merry Christmas!
Patricia
