Last Minute Gifts – Shiny Gold Boxes!

I’ve got another last minute gift idea for you today….using mini shiny gold pizza boxes.  Yes, you read that right…miniature pizza boxes….that are gold!

These little beauties are just 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” x 1” and are a bargain too!  You get 8 of these boxes for just $7.00 which makes them less than $1.00 each!  They are so shiny….but so plain, so they needed just a little dressing up.

First I added some Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper with a piece of coordinating cardstock for the background.   This set of Designer Series Paper has gold accents so a good choice to add to a gold box.

The paper also looks a little outdoorsy….like the plaid on a lumberjack’s flannel shirt.  Because I wanted something simple and quick, a few punches are the way to go.  The Moose Punch and the Pine Tree Punch seemed to fit the “outdoorsy” look.

For the second box (because who can make just one). I added a few more items to the box and changed up the Desginer Series Paper for a red plaid.

For the background, I stamped a few pine trees from the Merry Moose Stamp set.  Then I made a “shadow” for the moose by punching another moose out of Gold Foil Cardstock and attaching the plaid moose on top.   I tied a little banner with a stamped sentiment around the neck with a piece of Cherry Cobbler twine and I was done.

Well almost.  You can’t give someone an empty box.  Time to fill them up and there are lots of options.  First, these Mini Gold Pizza boxes are food safe!  You can put home baked cookies wrapped, (or unwrapped) right inside….or in my case….a Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie as I haven’t done my Christmas baking yet.

Or you could fill them with your favorite sweet treats….a few Hershey nuggets candy bars found their way into this box along with some shredded crinkly paper.

You could also fill them with non food items like small chapsticks, lipstick, socks or jewelry….even a gift card!  Filled with mints, these would make great table favors for a party too!

If you would like to make both of these boxes, this is what you will need:

  • Merry Moose Stamp Set & Moose Punch
  • Pine Tree Punch
  • Mini Gold Pizza Boxes
  • 2 ¼” Circle Punch
  • Layering Circles Dies (Scalloped Circle)
  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock – Cut 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”
  • Night of Navy Cardstock – CUt 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”, plus a piece cut 2” x 3” (moose)
  • Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper – Cut two pieces 3” x 3” of different colored plaid, plus a piece cut 2” x 3” (Moose) of each pattern.
  • Gold Foil Sheet – Cut 2” x 3” (optional: emboss with Hammered Embossing Folder) (tree), and two pieces cut 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” (scalloped circles)
  • Whisper White Cardstock – 2 ½” x 2 ½” (circle) and a piece cut ½” x 2 ¾” (banner)
  • Ink: Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler
  • Cherry Cobbler Twine
  • Adhesive: Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The Merry Moose Stamp Set and Punch are no longer available and I don’t usually post about items that you can no longer purchase.  They were both so popular that they sold out quickly….but Stampin’ Up! has already announced that they will be back in the 2020 Holiday Catalog!

I have lots of ideas for these Mini Gold Pizza Boxes floating around in my head.  Jumping ahead a little bit, I can see these being used for a certain holiday in February.  These boxes are part of the Holiday Catalog, so if you’d like to have some on hand, hop right over to my Stampin’ Up Store before they are gone as they are only available while supplies last!
