Show Me Some Cow Love

I’m currently visiting my daughter in South Korea and brought limited supplies with me.  I brought this CRAFT AND CARRY STAMPERATUS Bag on the plane….and put more in my suitcase.  It’s only about 9” x 9” square, but I did manage to fit several stamp sets, ink pads, paper, ribbon, a few embellishments and….hmmm that might not qualify as limited.  And I just might have taken clothes out of my suitcase to fit in more Stampin’ Up supplies.  After all, I can do laundry, but finding crafting supplies in a foreign country would be harder.

But the one thing I forgot was my silicone craft sheet.  This handy dandy 6” x 6 “ sheet is great for when you are using Liquid Multipurpose glue for your projects (just rub the glue off when it dries) but it’s also great for doing reverse images when stamping.

So what do you do when you want to make a reverse image without a silicone mat?  You improvise.  I did bring along these cellophane envelopes.  Normally I use them to put my completed card along with an envelope to keep my cards clean.  Although you can actually put them in the mail like a regular envelope.

But I gave them a new purpose today.  To make the reverse image, I just stamped on the clear envelope, turned it over and placed it where I wanted it on my cardstock.  Carefully gave it a little rub. (Don’t let it move or it will smudge….ask me how I know this). And then I gently lifted it off.  Ta-da!  A reverse image!

The image on the left is the actual image, the one on the right is the reverse and you can see where I stamped on the envelope.  Best part is that the image can be wiped off with a Simply Shammy and you’re envelope is now good to use again….either to stamp some more reverse images or to put your completed card in.

And here is the finished card…..after a little coloring with my Stampin’ Blends.

Best thing about coloring…either with Stampin’ Blends or Watercolor Pencils is that you can match the colors to any Designer Series Paper or cardstock, so the possibilities are endless.  Or you don’t have to color at all….I do have an almost white cow.  And you can add your own personal touch.  Did you notice the eyelashes and little bit of lipstick on the girl cow?

She’s a fashionista too…notice her polka dot boots!  If you’re going to be out in the pasture and attracting those young male cows, you’ll need pretty boots!

If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:

  • Over the Moon Stamp Set
  • Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Pool Party, and Whisper White
  • INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive
  • Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette (retired), Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede (Light), Lovely Lipstick (Dark)
