I couldn’t let Memorial Day go by without making a card….I’ve been thinking about it all week-end, but just didn’t have the time until this afternoon when I sat down for a few minutes to play with my stash of supplies. (and lucky you, you get a sneak peak at what’s coming in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog!).
So you might be asking….what is my stash of supplies? Well, I decided to try something new with all the new stamp sets, papers, dies and embossing folders that are coming out in the new 2019-2020 catalog. It’s a different way of creating. So here is my “creative pile” as I’m calling it:
I took one piece of each of the new Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper and cut it into 6 pieces – each 6” x 4”. Then I added in 2 pieces of cardstock in each of the coordinating colors that were cut 5 1/4” x 4”. Then I used the Seaside Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of each cardstock color, and then I pulled out the Sailing Home Stamp Set and used every stamp that had a coordinating die and starting stamping images & cutting! It goes faster than you think because you are just random stamping and cutting. And pretty soon I had that pile.
To make the card, I just pulled out pieces and started trying them out until I got what I wanted. Since everything was already cut, I only had to do some minimal trimming of pieces and a little stamping on the banner.
As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I was able to preorder several of the products I used. You’ll have to wait until June 4th to order these products (marked with a star below)
but this is what you’ll need:
- Sailing Home Stamp Set*
- Smooth Sailing Dies*
- Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retires June 3!)
- Base: Night of Navy Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” ; Score and Fold at 4 14”
- 1st Layer: Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
- 2nd Layer: Night of Navy Cardstock – Cut 3 3/4” x 3” (embossed)
- Real Red Cardstock – scraps for rope, rope knot and banner
- Whisper White Cardstock – scraps for 3 anchors and banner
- Ink: Real Red and Night of Navy
- Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (rope, knot and to attach 2 banners together) and Stampin’ Dimensionals (middle anchor and sentiment banner)
- Inside: Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
In case you are wondering….I attached two of the banner pieces to give my “thank you” a little more dimension.
Stayed tuned this week, because I’m going to be digging into my pile again….it’s going to be a red, white and blue week!
