A Traveler’s Birthday Card

My husband’s birthday was earlier this week.  I would have shared his card with you earlier, but we took a little trip for his birthday…..he actually got to celebrate multiple days because we did all his favorite things — Went to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, ate BBQ at a Black Hog BBQ in Frederick, MD, went to a National’s Baseball game (they lost) and spent a beautiful sunny day in Harper’s Ferry, WVA.

He had days of fun….but it would have been better if I had remembered to bring along the birthday card that I made for him.  And since he actually reads (or looks at) my blog, I didn’t want him to see it online before I gave it to him.

It’s kind of an ongoing joke in our family that when he drives he doesn’t always go the same way to get to where he’s going or he wants to try a different road.  If you ask him about it he’ll tell you he’s “taking the scenic route”.  So this card was perfect for him.

This card is made with the three of the cards that come with the Best Route Memories & More Card Pack.  The first card….as soon as I saw the words on it, i just knew it would be the perfect sentiment for his card… I cut them right out! And the second card was covered in cars….another perfect one to use and the third card was the map background.

These are some of the other cards that come in the Best Route Memories & More Card Pack….(along with several sheets of stickers) that can be paired with the above paper.  Can’t you just see all the possibilities??

Although there are several “Car” stickers (you can see them above), I chose to use the coordinating En Route Stamp Set and stamp a few cars of my own to decorate the inside of the card.

If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:

  • Best Route Memories & More Card Pack
  • Maps, Etc. Embossing Folder
  • Blueberry Bliss Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; Score at 5 1/2”,  one piece 5 1/2” x 1 1/2” (embossed and notch the ends or use the Triple Banner Punch), and one piece 2 5/8” x 4”
  • Memories and More Card (Map) – Cut to 5 1/4” x 4” (use strip cut off for inside of card)
  • Memories & More Card (Cars) – Cut 2 3/8” x 3 3/4” or use Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies
  • Whisper White Cardstock – scraps for stamping cars
  • 3/4” Circle Punch
  • Ink: Mango Melody, Basic Gray and Blueberry Bliss
  • Snail Adhesive
  • Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

The Memories & More Best Route Card Pack is  a great options for making cards for all the travelers (or anyone going places — graduation, new job, moving, etc.) on your card list.  Hope you’ll give it a try!

Happy Stamping!
