Most everything I post is cards, cards and more cards with a few treat boxes & bags thrown in. But every once in a while, I get asked to do “make something” for an event. My niece is pregnant and of course there was a baby shower. The theme of the shower was “Children’s Books”. Instead of buying a card, we were all asked to buy books. So when my sister-in-law asked if I could help and she was using Peter Rabbit decorations, I knew just what stamp set to use – Fable Friends! Peter Rabbit is right there in the stamp set along with two other Beatrix Potter friends – Jemima Puddleduck and Squirrel Nutkin.
And what goes better with books than a bookmark! So I did a little CAS’ing (Copy And Share) from Pinterest and came up with these cuties –
When the planning was underway, the sex of the baby was still unknown, so I opted to do a variety of colors. These were really simple with the help of my HP Office Jet 4650 printer for the words….all I had to do was print, cut, stamp, color and put together. Good thing I am really good at making bows! And now they have multiplied!….got to watch those bunnies!
I’m guessing you’ve figured out that she is having a baby girl! So maybe this isn’t Peter Rabbit in his traditional blue jacket anymore….but maybe one of his siblings…Flopsy, Mossy or Cottontail?
If you’d like to make the bookmarks, the dimensions are below. The ribbon I used was part of Sale-A-Bration and is no longer available – all except the pink ribbon…that was purchased at Michaels….it’s almost, but not quite the same. You can use any coordinating color ribbon.
- Background cardstock – Cut 2 1/8” x 7”. I used Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight and Pink Pirouette (retired)
- Very Vanilla Cardstock – Cut 2” x 6 7/8”. (I printed 4 on a page, then cut to size)
- Snail Adhesive or Liquid Multipurpose Glue
- Ribbon – cut two pieces – one piece 5 1/2” long (thread through the hole)and the other 8” long. (To tie the bow to hold the other piece in place)
- Detailed Trio Punch – to round the corners of each piece and to punch the hole at the top for the ribbon.
And we weren’t supposed to bring a card….just books…but I couldn’t resist pulling out a retired stamp set – Moon Baby to make a little tag for my gift…..so another “not card” project!
And just so you know….Fable Friends is one of the stamp sets that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog and this stamp set is NOT retiring the end of May. It is one of the carry-over stamp sets that will be in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog that will be out on June 4th!
Happy Stamping!

THE RETIRING PRODUCT LIST IS OUT…..I posted it in my blog post yesterday (and you can see read all about it HERE…but the list can be confusing. Stampin’ Up is changing the “format” of some, but not all, of the stamp sets – those that were wood mount and clear mount, will come out in a new version – Cling stamps. So even though the old version is “retiring”, the stamp set is not. Check this list of Carry Over Stamps to see which ones will be in the new catalog but in a new version, then Click on the image below and it will take you right there so you can look at your leisure! But don’t wait too long to order as these products are only available WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!
These are the products that I used for my bookmarks today. You can click on any of the products below and it will take you right to my Stampin’ Up! Online Store. I appreciate your business and thank you for choosing me to be your demonstrator! Please use the following HOST CODE: 3H7WQRHU when prompted when placing your order.
