Yes, I still have Christmas carols on my mind….mainly because I have lots of Santa’s and Mrs. Claus and elves and North Pole signs and presents cluttering up my desk. I’ve been busy stamping and coloring and die cutting. It’s how I get my inspiration for the cards I’m going to make. I make a whole bunch and then put the pile on my desk and start hoping that they jump onto the cards.
The stamp set – Signs of Santa is really cute and when I was struggling to describe it, one of my friends said “whimsical”….and she’s right. These cute whimsical little Santa’s and Mrs. Claus (does she have a first name??) and his merry band of elves are featured on this stamp set – Signs of Santa. There are also snowflakes and little piles of presents and wagons to haul them all around. This is the stamp set and the coordinating Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies..
And this is the coordinations paper – Santa’s Workshop Designer Series Paper. This paper is flocked, so it’s nice and soft and fuzzy too.
The best thing about this paper is that the Framelits dies for the elves, signpost, Mrs. Claus….they fit exactly around the images on the paper at the bottom left. So you don’t even have to color if you don’t want to…you can just cut the images out of the paper. How cool is that? This is the first card I made when the elves seemed to jump out of the pile:
Those little elves were just waiting to start hauling away the presents. It’s a really simple card, but oh so cute! The snow was made using a wavy cutter, but you can easily just freehand cut this. I then embossed it with a snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder and then placed the little elves going up and down the hills. The Merry Christmas was also die cut and then I put a few snowflakes in the air. The inside of the card has another one of the die cuts….a North Pole sign. Got to make sure those elves are taking the presents to the right place!
If you want elves dancing around your head….this is what you will need to make this card.
- Signs of Santa Stamp Set
- Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies
- Poppy Parade Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Scored at 4 1/4”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4” (for inside) – plus the following size scraps for the die cuts – Elves – 3 1/4” x 2” (for 2 elves); Wagons – 1” x 4 1/4” (for 3 wagons); Presents – 1” x 2 3/4” (for 2 sets); Snowflakes 1” x 2” (for 3 snowflakes); Signposts – 3 1/4” x 1 1/2” (for 1 signpost) and for the snow at the bottom a piece about 1 1/4” x 5 1/4” and another piece for your sentiment.
- Ink – Memento Black
- Stampin’ Blends – Poppy Parade, Shaded Spruce, Pool Party and Soft Suede and Daffodil Delight and Pink Pirouette (Light for the faces and Dark for the rosy cheeks)
This Sentiment is not an SU die cut, but when you are cutting something that is fine and swirly like this it works really well if you adhere your cardstock to a piece of double sided adhesive paper sheets and then cut it with your Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. This makes it like a sticker so that you don’t have to worry about getting glue all over your card….or your fingers while you are trying — fighting—-to get it on your card. I speak from experience
I’m going back to play with some more die cuts….check back soon to see who hopped onto my next card!
Happy Stamping!
