I didn’t have my usual Wednesday post yesterday because I’ve been busy preparing for my first Countdown to Christmas stamping event on Friday Night. Because one of the products that I wanted to use (the Timeless Tidings Card kit) was out of stock, I needed to plan something different. I was actually in the process of placing my order and just about ready to hit the “Purchase” button when I got a notice on my order sheet that it was “on backorder” . Oh no! What to do? What to do? I decided (with some great advice from my friend Margaret) to choose another stamp set and go from there. So I did….I chose the Peaceful Noel Stamp Set Bundle which includes the Sprig Punch.
For the Countdown to Christmas, I will be using the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper for the cards. But because I’m always a little cautious and to make sure that I didn’t run out of the paper I’d want to use for the cards, I used the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper to try out a card design.
And to make the cards feel just a little more special, the cards will be made using the Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes. They come in both silver and gold foil edges. They really give the cards an elegant look.
Here is the sample card I made:
And here is the hint for the card we are actually making on Friday — same basic card design, but with the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper.
Did you notice the sparkly sprigs? Thankfully it is not glitter…glitter is just asking for trouble unless you want to wear it and find it everywhere for weeks. No this is the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper…they are thin glitter sheets….but they don’t shed glitter everywhere!
I love them! There are 24 sheets in the package…8 each of the following colors: Merry Merlot, Copper and Tranquil Tide. They are going to be a perfect addition to my Christmas cards this year!
If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:
- Peaceful Noel Bundle (Stamp Set & Sprig Punch) (#149958)
- Silver Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes (#147900)
- Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper (#146921) – Cut 5” x 3 3/4”
- Scraps of Whisper White Cardstock (#100730), Shaded Spruce Cardstock (#146981) and a Silver Foil Sheet (#132178)
- Stitched Shapes Framelits (#145372)
- Layering Circles Framelits (#141705)
- Shaded Spruce Ink (#147088)
- 1/8” Silver Ribbon (The ribbon I used is not SU, but ribbon I had stashed away from last Christmas and just happens to be wired edged, so it really holds it’s shape)
- Metallic Pearls (#146282)
- Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110775)
I actually think these cards are going to be more fun to make than the original plan. So don’t get discouraged when unexpected things happen and your plans get derailed. Just make a new plan and keep going!
Happy Stamping!
