Turtle Friends Fun Fold

I had so much fun playing with the Turtle Friends Stamp Set yesterday that I’ve been playing with it a little bit more.  If you missed yesterday’s post you can see it here: Turtle Friends….. . The card I shared in that blog post has a “belated” birthday message.  But what do you do when you are actually on time and on the ball about getting your birthday cards in the mail?  Then you can send them something like this.

This is a Fun Fold card….the little card on the front opens (backwards) and then the rest of the card folds out like this:

If you recognized the paper or thought it looked familiar, that is because it is from the same set of Designer Series Papers called Ice Cream Corner, as the card in my last post, but with a different group of colors.  This one is has colors of Terracotta Tile, So Saffron, and Petal Pink.  As a reminder, here is the paper and the stamp set:

You’ll see in the supply list below that I used Calpyso Coral for my card base, which is not even one of the  colors that Stampin’ Up uses in the description of the paper.  So what are my reason for that?  #1 – The Terracotta Tile Cardstock is now retired, and I try not to use retired products (unless it’s ribbon!)  #2  If you look at the paper, there are lots of “shades” of the Terracotta Tile.  In fact the “splotches” have the same look as the new Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper – ink with drops of alcohol that give it a varied shaded look. And some of those colors looked like Calpyso Coral to me.  My advice?  Don’t be afraid to use colors that might NOT be listed on your paper package and you might be pleasantly surprised to see that other colors match too!
