Butterfly Brilliance, General Cards

Pop Up Card with Butterfly Brilliance

So many computer problems last week that I didn’t get this out (big sigh).  .BUT…..Today is the start of a brand new week, so hoping it will be better!   Today I have a fun card to share with you….a Pop-Up Card using the new Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set and coordinating Brilliant Wings Dies.  Not only do you get to see a fun card, but I’ll also tell you how to make some beautiful colored butterflies that match the colors in your Designer Series Papers!  These are the two cards I made….the one on the right was the first card I made and the one on the right is the card that I made during my Facebook Live last Thursday (that got delayed from Tuesday).

And here there are “popped open”!  The cards will stand up on their own so the lucky person that gets your card can proudly display it.

Stampin’ Up! introduced the Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set and Brilliant Wings Dies as a special pre-order to the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog that will be released on May 4th.

There was also a coordinating set of Designer Series Papers called Butterfly Bijou.  However it was sooooo popular that it sold out in the first two weeks!  Although it doesn’t look like it in the picture, the solid butterflies are all on one stamp and the 6 solid butterflies are all on one die, so you stamp and then cut out them out at the same time.  Which is perfect for making this card.

I made the butterflies using ink colors that were in the Designer Series Paper I used, Playing With Patterns.  This set of papers is currently on the Last Chance/Retiring List, so if you like the soft colors in combination with fun stripes, dots patterns, make sure you order it soon!

For the first card I used the ink colors Night of Navy, Highland Heather and Coastal Cabana.  I used the Blending Brushes to brush each color randomly on a piece of 5” x 6” piece of Basic White Cardstock.  I had a leftover piece of Basic White Cardstock that I had used to die cut a set of butterflies, so I laid that on top of my brushed piece to see how the colors looked.

Then I stamped the butterflies using my Stamparatus (remember it’s one big stamp!) Then I die cut the butterflies.  You can see a close-up of several of them below.

If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need:

  • Butterfly Brilliance Bundle (Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set and Brilliant Wings Dies
  • Night of Navy Cardstock
    • Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 1/2”
