A New Year’s Resolution –

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I rarely do because I never keep them. I’m good for a few weeks and by February, it’s all out the window. And every year it’s always the same thing…..and it’s what I see most other people have on their list too….do something more (exercise, spend more time with family/friends)….or do something better (eat better, get more organized).   But I saw something the other day that made much more sense. Pick one word and let it be your guide, so to speak, for the year.   Pick a word for the year…..and strive for that word.  My word for 2021 is JOY!   And I picked that because I bought this sign as a Christmas decoration and it is sitting just above my desk.  I plan to leave it out all year.   I want to do things that bring me joy this year…like travel, sit and craft for hours, spend time with my friends and family.  I want to do things  that will spread joy….make other people joyful.  Like sending cards in the mail, That is something I think I can accomplish this year. So let’s spread a little joy this week by making a simple card with a few layers….all you need is paper and ink and a basic sentiment. This is a great way to use up smaller pieces of your Designer Series Paper, or even break out a new pack…like I did. This is a tiny sneak peak (because the card doesn’t use much) of one of the new Designer Series Paper called Hydrangea Hill.  It’s a beautiful mix of purples and blues with a little pink  in both large and small patterns. And to dress it up a bit, I used one of the new embellishments – Pastel Pearls and a bit of one of the new ribbons – Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon.   There are four colors of pearls in this package – Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray….all perfectly matched to the Designer Series Paper…and the ribbon and the cardstock.  I just love when everything is coordinated for you. And I used the new Hydrangea Haven Stamp Set and the coordinating Hydrangea Dies…so you get a sneak peak at that too!  See the long flower die at the bottom?  It’s not a border, it cuts 9 of those little flowers all at one time! If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies you will need.  (The new products won’t be available until Tuesday, January 5th when the new catalog comes out, but you can put it on your wishlist!

  1. It is a real joy for ME to have you as a friend! Keep that sign over your desk and buy more for random placement as you recover from your surgery. Great card, great post.

    1. Well thanks! Right back at you! Yeah, I’m going to need those signs all over my house!
Glad you like the card. It’s going to my sister….she loves purple…and she makes me smile!
