2020 Aug-Dec Mini Catalog (Holiday), Seasonal - Winter

Merry Moose Christmas Banner

It seems like everyone is starting to decorate for Christmas a little early this year.  It’s still a few days before Thanksgiving and even I am ready to put up my decorations!  I have a fun banner that’s easy to make to share with you today.  If you are ever in need of inspiration for a card or project, just head right to your Stampin’ Up! catalogs. They are chock full of ideas for cards, treat holders, gift boxes, envelopes, and yes, even some home decor items. The project I am sharing today comes right from page 27 of the Aug-Dec Mini Catalog. This is what I made: The entire banner is 36 inches long which gives you plenty of extra on the ends to tie it to your Christmas tree, hang it on a fireplace mantle, stair railing…..I can think of lots of places to put this. I used the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper to make the banner pieces.  This paper is  perfect for this project as there are both stripe and checked pattern pieces that give it a homespun look.  All of Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Papers are double-sided, with a different design on each side.  but this paper is the same design on front and back….but a different color.  One side is Real Red and the other side is Garden Green. That means that if you don’t want your banner to be all red…..you can just use the other side of your paper and either do all green….or alternate your colors like I did here: All I did was flip two of the papers over and now it has a whole new look! I used the Merry Moose Stamp Set and Moose Punch for the Moose (obviously) and also for the trees and sentiment.  The pine cones, branches and tag are all from the Beautiful Boughs Dies. Here is a close-up of the 4 designs I used for the banners. If you would like to make this banner, these are the supplies that you will need:
  • Merry Moose Bundle (Merry Moose Stamp Set and Moose Punch)
  • Dies: Beautiful Boughs, Layering Squares and Stitched Shapes
  • Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper – Cut five pieces 3″ x 4″, scored on the long side at 1″
  • Real Red Cardstock – Cut two pieces 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ ( 2 14″ Scalloped Square) and 1 piece 7/8″ x 2 1/2 (sentiment mat)
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock  – Cut two pieces 2 1/2 x  2 1/2″ (for Stitched Circles); Cut one piece cut 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ (sentiment); Cut one piece 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ (middle tag); and Cut two pieces 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ (moose)
  • Garden Green Cardstock – Cut two pieces 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ (pine boughs)
  • Soft Suede Cardstock – scraps for pine cone top layer
  • Early Espresso Cardstock – scraps for pine cone bottom layer

    1. I put Tear & Tape across the top of the banner piece. I started with the middle piece and laid the string (I made sure the middle of the string was in the middle of the banner piece) just underneath the score line, then folded the top down. I used my grid paper to evenly space them out ( 2 Squares = 1/2”). You could use Stampin’ Seal Plus too. Hope that helps.
