Eeek! Who is afraid of spiders? My sister! (Shhh…she might not like me telling that). And maybe the cute little owl on today’s card.
This tiny little spider comes with his own spider web too! The stamp set I used is called Have a Hoot and there is a set of coordinating dies called Peek-A-Hoot that has a spider web die. In addition to the spider web, the set also includes dies for all the owl images as well as two extra tree branches and a set of three frames (the pieces cut from the middle actually are gift tags! You can purchase the stamp set and the dies separately, but if you purchase them as a bundle you save 10%!
Do you love plaid? I do….especially when there are lots of fall colors like the paper I used on this card. What I would call the perfect Halloween colors – Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black. I stamped the image twice. Once on the Whisper White Stitched Circle and then again on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. I die cut that owl out (along with his spider friend) and then layered it on top of the stamped image using mini dimensionals.
You can find this paper and many other fall plaid designs (and some Christmas ones too in the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper pack. These sheets are all 6” x 6”….but you get 4 of each design!
I cut mine down to 2 1/4” x 5 1/8” and paired it with a piece of 1 1/2” x 5 1/8” Pumpkin Pie Cardstock that I embossed with one of the two embossing folders that come together as a set called Wrapped in Texture. Those two pieces are placed side by side and then the strip of Basic Black Cardstock hides where they meet.
Did you know that Stampin’ Up has black Dimensionals? If you haven’t bought a pack yet, you should especially if you are adhering dark colored cardstock elements to your cards. The spider web is attached using these black Dimensionals. You can’t even see it as it blends right into the black spider web.
Each package comes with two sizes of dimensionals – regular and mini. The mini ones come in handy for all those small elements you are attaching like the spider or the small circle with the “eeek” sentiment. While the larger ones are better for larger elements like card layers or large scalloped circles like the one on the front of my card. You can’t even see it, but I’ll give you a hint….it’s right in the center of the web.
