Easy Coloring with Many Layered Blossoms

What do you do when you have a really large die that cuts an outline of flowers? You can use it as it was intended as part of a two layered die….or you can go rogue and color it!…attach it to the front of a card base….add a sentiment.and maybe a little ribbon bow.

This is probably one of the fastest ways to color and come out with something that looks like you have spent hours making. All you need are three ink colors – I chose Gorgeous Grape, Mossy Meadow and Daffodil Delight. And then you need three sponge daubers.

Oh…and of course you will need the die cut too! The one I used is from the Many Layered Blossoms Die. There are two large flower dies in the set. One makes a very thin outline (top die) and the other (bottom die) makes the die cut that I used for this card. There are also 4 small flower dies – two that are an outline and two that match the die I used.

After you cut the die, then you use the sponge daubers to add the color. I wanted mine to look a little like pansies. First I daubed on Daffodil Delight ink for the center of the flowers. Then I added Gorgeous Grape ink for the flower petals. And lastly I used Mossy Meadow on the leaves. And I was done! Fast and easy.

As you can see….you don’t have to be perfect. You get great shading depending on how much ink is on your dauber and that just makes the flower look more real. I also added a bit of texture to the Whisper White Cardstock that I mounted the die layer on. I used the Subtle Embossing Folder and it really is subtle….You might not see the texture in the photo above, but in the right light you can see the texture.

If you would like to make this card, this is what you will need:

  • Many Layered Blossom Dies
  • Sponge Daubers
  • Seaside Notions Stamp Set (Sentiment)
  • Sweetly Stitched Dies (sentiment tag)
  • Subtle Embossing Folder
  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 1/2”; plus a scrap cut 2 3/8” x 1 3/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/8” x 4 1/8” (Emboss with Subtle Embossing Folder); a piece cut 5 1/2” x 4 1/2” – Use this piece to die cut the flower piece.; plus a scrap for the sentiment tag. I used the second smallest die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Ink: Gorgeous Grape, Mossy Meadow and Daffodil Delight
  • Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
  • Adhesive: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Glue Dots

I hope you will give this card a try. It’s super easy and really makes a great card that makes it look like you did a lot of work when it really only took you a few minutes.  And if you want….die cut two of the little flowers and add them to the inside of your card.

Happy Stamping!
