Our power was out most of the day on Monday due to a big rain & wind storm so I didn’t get much done that I wanted to get done. So in the spirit of catching up….Two week-ends ago, I attended a “Virtual Retreat” in place of an “in person” event at a beach resort that was cancelled due to the virus and social distancing.
One of the Facebook Live demonstration focused on the Tropical Oasis Suite of Products. That was one of the bundle of products that I didn’t purchase from the 2020 Mini Catalog, but I did have 1/4 of a pack of the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper left over from a Paper Share. I decided that I was going to use up all of that paper. And I did! Here is just one of the 38 cards that I made:
The Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper is very bold and colorful, but the piece I used on this card is a little more muted….it’s a Flamingo Design…so it is no surprise that it pairs well with Flirty Flamingo Cardstock and Flirty Flamingo Ribbon.
If you would like to make this card, this is what you will need:
- Calypso Coral Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” ; Score and fold at 4 1/4”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”, plus a scrap for the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die
- Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder
- Calypso Coral Cardstock – cut 3” x 4”
- Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper – Cut 2 7/8” x 3 7/8”, plus a piece cut 2 1/2” x 6” (envelope flap)
- Endless Birthday Wishers retired) for sentiment (or choose your own)
- Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon (retired)
- Ink: Flirty Flamingo
- Adhesive: Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and Dimensionals
In my quest to use up all the paper, it was the perfect opportunity to take a piece 2 1/2” x 6” and decorate the flap of the envelope.
I also embossed the Whisper White Cardstock piece that I used for matting with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. The leaf pattern gives the card some texture and dimension and mimics the leafy pattern in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.
Since we are “staying home” it’s nice to have a card that reminds me of a tropical paradise. Maybe I’ll take a little trip to Puerto Backyarda tomorrow….
