Color Challenge – Ink & An Aquapainter

I recently took part in a color challenge.  The challenge was to use three specific colors in a card and to use products that are in Stampin’ Up’s 2019 Holiday Catalog.

It doesn’t seem like these colors: Pretty Peacock, Merry Merlot and Pear Pizzazz would be a great combination, but it just so happens that one of the papers in the Come To Gather Designer Series Papers just happens to have all three!

Do you see it?  It’s the very first one on the left.  Now to just come up with a fun and easy design.  I decided to use the Gather Together stamp set that coordinates with this paper. And since it is fall….the large leaf stamp.

I stamped one leaf in each color on Water Color Cardstock.   Then I used an Aqua Painter to smear the ink around. D9865180-665D-47BB-8B2A-F75DADF540F1

Then it was as simple as using the large leaf die and cutting them out and arranging on my card.

Because the leaves would have been lost in all the color of the Designer Series Paper, I put them on a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock that I embossed with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder and added a small strip that I sponged around the edges with Pretty Peacock ink.  To complete the card, I wrapped a piece of white twine around the sentiment piece that I had colored with a Pretty Peacock Cock Stampin’ Blends Marker.

It was a fun card to make and I hope you’ll give it a try.  This is what you’ll need:

  • Gather Together Stamp Set
  • Gathered Leaves Dies
  • Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder
  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, Score and fold at 4 1/4”
  • Come To Gather Designer Series Paper – Cut 5 1/4” x 4” and a strip cut 4” x 3/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock – cut 4 1/2” x 3 1/4”, plus a piece 5 1/4” x 4” (for inside)
  • Ink: Pretty Peacock, Merry Merlot and Pear Pizzazz
  • White Cotton Twine
  • Stamping Sponge
  • Adhesive: Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Now, I’d like to challenge you to make a card with these three colors and share your creation by posting a picture in the comments!

Happy Stamping!
Patricia
