Get ready for another birthday card because it’s still birthday week on my blog. I’m in Orlando, Florida, celebrating Stampin’ Up!’s 30th birthday along with about 7,000 other crafty women. You can almost feel the creativity oozing out of the convention center. And let me tell you that the Orange County Convention Center is HUGE! My hotel is directly across the street from the Convention Center and it is a 40-45 minute walk to get to the hall where the convention is held. In the picture below, the North Concourse is on the left, my hotel is on the right. But we are in the West Concourse which is a completely separate building that requires crossing multiple streets on skywalks. Just to give you an idea of how big it is, the employees use Segways to get around.
It was a great first day, but on to my birthday card for today. This is the card I made to “Swap” with other people attending.
And of course, I had to add a little something extra on the inside too.
But I have a little confession to make. I tried just stamping the row of wine glasses, but I wanted to randomly color the wine in the glasses to match the front of the card. Well, the Stampin’ Blends bled thru a little bit on the back of the card…..so this was my solution. I just added a separate strip backed by a little Merry Merlot cardstock. The name of the cardstock color is kind of fitting for this card….don’t you think?
The stamp set I used is called Half Full. (Maybe because the wine glasses are half full??). I like to buy stamp sets that are versatile as I feel like I’m getting more for my money. And this stamp set fits the bill. You can use this set to make a birthday card like I did, or maybe you’re having friends over for a little wine party and you need an invitation, or how about a gift tag to go with a bottle of wine? And don’t forget Christmas cards too…there are fun sentiments for that too. I might have to have a “Wine” week to show all those cards!
If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Stamp Sets: Half Full and Perennial Birthday
- Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: Cut 4 ¼” x 11”; Score at 5 ½”
- Cherry Cobbler Cardstock: Cut 5 ¼” x 4” and another piece 4 ¼” x 1 ¼”, plus a scrap for tag background
- Old Olive Cardstock: Cut 5” x 3 ¾”, plus scrap for bottle background
- Very Vanilla Cardstock – Cut 4 ¾” x 3 ½” plus a piece 4 1/8” x 1 1/8” and scraps for tag and bottle
- Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
- Stampin’ Blends: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede
- Stamperatus – optional, but it makes stamping the wine glasses in a straight line and evenly spaced rows very easy!!)
Happy Stamping!
