Did you know that World Card Making Day is celebrated on the first Saturday in October? So this year, the actual celebration day is Saturday, October 6th. I didn’t know there was such a thing, but I shouldn’t be surprised because it seems like everything and everybody has a “special day” now. And some days have more than one “special event”. Here are a few that are celebrated in October:
- October 4th – National Golf Day (My mom will love that….she’s 88 and still plays)
- October 6th – National Noodle Day
- October 10th – National Angel Food Cake Day (might have to make that next week)
- October 17th – National Pasta Day (not to be confused with Noodle Day above)
- October 30th – National Candy Corn Day
Stampin’ Up of course is celebrating World Card Making Day because well….they are in the card making business! And they are not just celebrating on October 6th, they are celebrating all week long, October 1st-7th! As part of their celebration they are offering selected items for 10% off. You can see all the sale products HERE And they picked some great card-making items too….like basic supplies – cardstock, notecards & envelopes, card making kits (these make great Christmas presents too!), dimensionals, and a few stamp sets.
I want to tell you about one of the stamp sets they chose is called Petal Palette. There are so many great stamps in this set that is actually comes in 2 cases! They just couldn’t fit all the goodness into one!
One case has all the sentiments and the other has all the images. I use this set a lot. Like all.the.time. The sentiments are great for cards for just about any occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, weddings, Get well, think of you. Endless possibilities. And the stamps in the other case have lots of uses too! You can use the leaf and flower stamps to make your own designer paper….just stamp in your favorite color as a background like on these birthday cards.
Or just color the flowers and put them on a card all by themselves….
The bird is so sweet and you can make him any color you want…he can be a red bird, yellow bird like the card above, an orange bird….or even a reddish-purple bird…take your pick!
