Mix-It-Up Monday – One Sheet Wonder

Are you excited?  Not only is it a Mix-It-Up Monday….it’s also time for another One Sheet Wonder!  When I Mix-It-Up, I choose one OLD item that is discontinued and a New item from the current catalog.  The OLD is the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper that I chose.  I used the Fresh Fig color (second color from the left) but it also came in Rich Razzleberry, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide.

The NEW is the sentiment.  This “Thank You” is from the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set.  I chose it because of the size – it’s big enough to fill in the white space….and because I like the modern font.

When I make my cards I love to add stuff….ribbon…pearls….sparkly gems.  I don’t like to leave my cards looking too plain.  So it took just about all my self restraint NOT to do anything to these cards and just let them to be simple Thank You cards. Although I did sneak in a few bows….and maybe just a few ovals…..I just couldn’t help myself.  Just know I wanted to do more.

Did you notice that one of the cards in the picture is upside down?  Yes, it is….go back and look again.  I decided to leave it and not retake the picture because, well we all make mistakes and it’s a good test of your observation skills.

Here is a close up of each of the cards….and they are all right side up!!

Now, I bet you are wondering what One Sheet Wonder I used…..or maybe if you haven’t seen my posts with the Time for Tea cards  and or here when I made 9 cards…you don’t know that a One Sheet Wonder is when you take one 12” x 12” sheet of paper and cut it up to make multiple cards.  I’ve done ones that made 9 and 12, but this one makes 14!!  Now that’s a wonder!!

I used this cutting diagram from Craftys.com

UPDATE October 1, 2022:  I’ve had lots of requests for the cutting design that I referenced above as it is no longer available on the link.  And for the cutting sizes for the mats.  So,, to make it easier for you to try this One Sheet Wonder,  I do have a tutorial that includes all of that information that your can download for FREE!  Please click on this link for the tutorial: One Sheet Wonder – Fresh Florals

I hope you’ll try this with your favorite piece of 12” x 12” piece of designer series paper!

I’m going to try it with some of the new Christmas Designer Series paper that is in the new Holiday Catalog.  What paper are you going to choose?

Happy Stamping!
Patricia

  1. I wish your cards shown were in the 1, 2, 3 and so on order so I could see the numbered pieces that correspond with position of card in photo

    1. Hi Paula,
Yes, you are right! I did that 2 years ago just after I started my blog and I didn’t really know what I was doing them. BUT….I do write a tutorial for myself of every card I make….so…..If you will email me at pdominicci@gmail.com, I will send you the tutorial that has the pictures of each card and all the dimensions for the One Sheet Wonder pieces and the matting.

  2. Hi Patricia what were the mat sizing you used for the14 cards you made from the one sheet wonder 12×12 paper please.

  3. Hi Patricia, just ran across your adorable 1 page wonder cards. Would you be willing to send me the cutting mat sizes, the link wasn’t working or they took it down.

  4. Hi Patricia! Just found your 14-card One Sheet Wonder on Pinterest. So excited to try it, but the cutting sketch from crafts.com is not at the link, to click “here”. Is there any way you could please send the cutting sketch & dimensions for mats, etc.? I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks ever so much!

  5. I would also love to have the tutorial, mat sizes and the second diagram. I have cut my paper and written the number on the back of each. Numbering these is brilliant! I’ve never seen that done before. Clever girl! I’d like to subscribe to your blog.

    1. I sent you an email with the tutorial that includes the diagrams and measurements. I also put that tutorial on the blog post – that you can download at your convenience. Hope that helps.

  6. Just found your website. Thank you so much for sharing with us the measurements and give us some of from your precious time. Love what you do with just one sheet of paper and love yours cards. Blessings 🙌

  7. I am enjoying making this OSW – 14 card set. I am experiencing a little hiccup with Cards 9 and 10 – according to the template, the DSP is cut as 5 1/2 x 4 then the diagonal cut. In your Tutorial, you note that the DSP is cut 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 (I think this is actually the Fresh Fig measurements) and the Fresh Fig is 4 x 4 (I think this should be the DSP) but the side measurements for the diagonal cut seem to be the right place. I am confused. I appreciate you guiding me through this. Thank you.

    1. Karen,
You are correct, the directions are not correct! And you are the first person to let me know too! Maybe you need a prize or reward for that! I’m not sure how I even made the cards again using my own directions! The easiest and best way to fix this is:
Cut the DSP exactly as it’s shown in the diagram, so your 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP is cut on the diagonal by measuring down 1″ from the top left corner and making a mark, then measuring 1″ up from the bottom right corner and making a mark and cutting on the diagonal using those marks as a guide.
For the background mat pieces, cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4″ x 5 3/4″. Measure down 1 1/4″ from the top left corner and make a mark and measure up from the the bottom right corner and make a mark and then cut on the diagonal using the marks as a guide. This will give you two pieces the top piece for card #9, and the bottom piece for card #10.
I hope this helps clear up the problem! Please let me know if it worked for you! If you are still having a problem, let me know and I can hop on Zoom with you to show you or email you some pictures that shows how to do it.
