One Sheet Wonder, Thinking of You

A Small One Sheet Wonder

I had so much fun last week making a One Sheet Wonder, that I hopped on Pinterest and starting searching for more.  There’s a whole bunch out there….and not all of them are for 12” x 12” paper, you can also find them for 6” x 6” paper!  Woo-hoo….because I have a bunch of that!  So I thought I’d give it a try.  This is the design sheet that I followed for cutting out the pieces.

imageThis one makes four cards. As you can see there are suggested layouts too.  But I decided to play around with mine a little bit.  I used the same pieces on the cards, but I just laid them out a little different.  After I had the pieces where I wanted them, I started experimenting with different backgrounds and layering, and then deciding what sentiment I wanted to use.  Experimenting to me is the most fun.  And don’t stress about how to cut the mats….just add 1/8” or 1/4” to each side measurement on the diagram….easy-peasy.  Here are my cards.

The paper is part of the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog….and it is conveniently 6” x 6”!  The Old Olive and Sweet Sugarplum background used on two of the cards is not cardstock, but the backside of two other pieces from the same paper set.  You can tell a little bit from the picture looking at the green that it looks subtly striped….well, it is!

This is a really close “close-up” of the paper.  In the pictures it almost looks like it’s embossed, but it’s not, so the herringbone pattern is very “flat” looking.  I decided to give it a little help by embossing it with that same pattern.  (Just a little disclaimer, I’ve been an avid scrapbooker for years and have lots of supplies….and I’m a firm believer in using what you already have.)

Here are close-ups of the cards so you can get a better view.

In retrospect, next time, I think I would make cards #3 and #4 vertical cards instead of horizontal, but I still like them and I hope when I mail them that the recipients do too!

Here are the basic supplies, you’ll need to make these cards:

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Scored at 4 1/4”
  • 6” x 6” Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Cardstock: Old Olive & Sweet Sugarplum
  • Ink: Old Olive & Sweet Sugarplum
  • Stamp Sets: Petal Palette Stamp Set (bird & banner); Heartfelt Blooms (Thinking of You);  Endless Birthday Wishes (Happy BIrthday) and Endless Thanks (Thankful); Thinking of You is from a random stamp set I bought at Dollar Tree.
  • The Design Page for cutting!

One of the best parts about a 6” x 6” One Sheet Wonder is that if you can always cut down a favorite piece of your 12” x 12” paper and use that to make your cards.  I can already think of some paper that I’m going to use next now that I experimented with my “retired” paper.
