Darling Dino’s Birthday

IMG_6287I just returned from attending Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Convention in Raleigh, North Carolina, called OnStage.  As an attendee, I was able to get my hands on the new 2025-2026 Annual Catalog that will be available on May 6th as well as new Online Exclusives that will be available in May too.

In the meantime, it’s not too late to check out the products in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalog or in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog that will be retiring soon.  You have until May 5th to get your hands on these products before they retire or go on the Last Chance list.   Let’s start with this card :

I used this stamp set  and dies – Darling Dino’s Stamp Set & Dies Bundle that in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalog.   I originally bought this stamp set because my daughter, who is an adult…still loves fun things like dinasaurs and I thought it would make some great fun cards for her.

I paired this card with the Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper., also found in the January-April 2025 Mini Catalog.  This fun set of papers has many different plaid designs that can be used all year round and for any occasion.  Plaid is one of those timeless designs that are always in style.

They make great background designs so you can showcase your stamped images.   I chose three of the  designs that feature one of the retiring 2023-2025 In-Colors,  Boho Blue  and cut a 1″ x 4 1/2″ strip from each one to layer on the front of the card.

I used  several Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the image.:  Pecan Pie for the Dinosaur and Boho Blue for his dots/stripes and I even colored his “toenails” with Pebbled Path.   The flowers are colored with Boho Blue, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.  Adding a few flowers makes it  seem like he’d be a friendly dinosaur too.  Although I used the Deckled Circle dies , which retired in December 2024, you could easily substitute a similar sized circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies.(hint hint….the Stylish Shapes Dies will be returning in the new catalog!)

Other items that I used that will be retiring in May include the Boho Blue Cardstock that I used for the card base (one of my favorite blue colors) ,Boho Blue Stampin’ Blends Markers and Pebbled Path Stampin’ Blends Markers.  So if you like these colors, you might want to order them now before they are gone for good.

Don’t forget to stamp a sentiment on the inside and to add a little color, add a small strip of one of the Designer Series Paper designs that were used on the front at the bottom.  Now it’s all ready to mail!

Hope you like this card and will give it a try —-or just use the design to create a card of your own.  You’ll need the following pieces for the basic design of the card.

  • Card Base:  Boho Blue Cardstock –  Cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, Score and fold at 5 1/2″
  • Layer One: Pecan Pie Cardstock – Cut 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
  • Layer Two: Basic White Cardstock – Cut 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
  • Designer Series Paper – Cut 3 stirps 1″ x 4 1/4″
  • Basic White Circle -: about 2 7/8″

I made a little card sketch (see below)  for you to follow to make similar cards of your own!  It is not to scale, but the measurements are correct!   The card base is cut 4 1/4″ x 11 and scored and folded at 5 1/2.  If you would  like to make a card that opens the traditional way with the fold on the side, simply cut your card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2 and score and fold at 4 1/4″.
