It’s time to take off with some fun card making! Let’s start with a fun stamp set that came out in the new 2024-2o25 Annual Catalog call Adventurous Sky. It’s definitely geared for those who love planes or anything aviation and that means it is perfect for making cards for my husband (a former US Navy A-6 Bombadier/Navigator or our 2 daughters as he passed along his love of flying to both. Although he didn’t fly planes like the ones in the stamp set, he still loves anything to do with planes and aviation.
He still loves to fly and talk “planes” with anyone who will listen and we’ve visited more museums than I can count such as the (National Air & Space Museum, or the Steven F. Udgar-Hazy Center, in DC The Wright Brother’s National Memorial in Kitty Hawk, NC, or the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA or just to watch the skies to see what might be flying overhead. And he has passed along that love to both our daughters, so I will be using the Adventurous Sky Stamps and Die Bundle alot! And as a plus…there is a must-have Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper too filled with planes, clouds, maps, plus two sheets have tags and other smaller pieces that you can cut apart for cards….but I’m thinking scrapbooking! Guess I better buy a few more packs of this paper!
Here is the first card I made:
I did a little simple stamping on the top half of a piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock with one of the smaller plane images using Night of Navy Ink, the same color as my card base. And you can’t see it, but I die cut the sentiment tag from the bottom of that piece!) The two circles are dies from the Spotlight on Nature Dies. The Basic White Cardstock Circle I cut out of the middle of the mat behind the top layer (I do like to not waste paper!) and the other larger circle is cut from a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock.
Keeping with the blue & gray color scheme I stamped a few of the bigger clouds with Smoky Slate ink on the Basic White Circle so that the plan would like like it was flying in the sky.
I used Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Markers for the wings and body of the plane. And added a few Adhesive Backed Textured Dots to finish the card. If you would like to make this card, these are the supplies (and measurements) you will need :
- Night of Navy Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4″ x 11 – score and fold at 5 1/2″, plus a piece cut 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ for the circle
- Smoky Slate Cardstock – Cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ (stamp the top half, die cut the sentiment tag from the bottom)
- Basic White Cardstock – Cut two pieces 4″ x 5 1/4″ (1 for cardfront, 1 for inside); and Cut 4″ x 2″ (stamp plane)
- Take to the Skies Designer Series Paper – Cut 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ (card front); Cut 6″ x 2 1/2″ (envelope flap); and Cut 4″ x 1/2″ (inside)
- Ink: Night of Navy and Smoky Slate
- Stampin’ Blends Markers: Smokey Slate (Light & Dark)
- Embellisments: Adhesive Backed Textured Dots
- Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Dimensionals
- Tools: Paper Trimmer, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool
And don’t forget to do add a little to the inside and decorate your envelope flap too!
