Hello!…..again! It’s been months since I’ve written on my blog. I had intended to take a little time off…and it morphed into something much longer! But, now, it’s time (for me) to get back to stamping! I have not done much stamping lately except when I went on a 3 day retreat in January that was hosted by a Demonstrator friend. I made almost all of these at the retreat or after I came back, plus a few more that went out in the mail.
I had been struggling trying to figure out what I wanted to make, how to use the stamps, dies and punches I had purchases, so I did what I sometime do when I’m struggline to think of ides, I looked in the catalog! Catalogs are not just for checking out new stamps, oohing and ahhing over all the pretty papers, ribbons and embellishments, it’s also a great place for ideas! There are lots of inspiration for cards that you can copy or “case” (copy and share everywhere). Which is what I did with the card I am sharing today from the Submarine Life Stamp Set that is featured on page 52 in the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog.

And this is the card that I made using the above for inspriration: Obviously I added more details to mine….might have gone a little crazy with my stamping, but the snorkeling little crab and starfish were too cute not to use! And I changed the colors because I wanted something brighter.
While the general layout of the card is ths same, I did make several changes:
- The color of the card base – I wanted something with more color that would match the “water”
- Changed the color of the submarine – to match the card base of course!
- Added more “sea life” along the bottom – who could resist the cute snorkeling crab and starfish?
- Stamped and fussy cut two fish instead of stamping the fish on the card front.
- Changed the placement of the sentiment.
If you’d like to make this card, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Submarine Life Stamp Set
- Submarine Builder Punch
- Coastal Cabana Cardstock – Cu t 4 1/4″ x 11″, Score and fold at 5 1/2″
- Bright’s 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – Cut 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Basic White Cardstock – Cut 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
- Ink: Coastal Cabana (submarine, waves), Pecan Pie (propeller, scope), Pumpkin Pie (fish), Crumb Cake (sand), Garden Green *seaweed), Poppy Parade (Crab)
- Stampin’ Blends Marker: Smokey Slate Light (Snorkel gear)
- Blending Brush
Here are a few hints to help you make this card.
- Stamp the sand first lining up the stamp a little below the bottom of the cardstock. There is a small space on the stamp between the stamped image and the area around the image.
- To make the water under the waves, I used a blending brush and a small amount of ink to lightly add a the ocean color.
- I stamped the seaweek, starfish and crab on top of the shaded area. The ink is dark enough that it doesn’t effect the colors or bleed through.
