Lighthouse Point – Beams of Light

I am not sure how you choose which stamp sets to purchase and I do not have any kind of plan for what I buy, but some stamp sets just seem destined to be a part of my stamp collection.  This Lighthouse Point Stamp set is one of them.  Why?  Because my husband loves lighthouses….many of our vacations have involved checking out lighthouses….and he climbs them all!  Lighthouses make great masculine cards too, which means he gets a lot of lighthouse themed cards for his birthday…or our anniversary, and sometimes Father’s Day.  He does read my blog, so this card will NOT be making it into his collection of cards I have given him.

And this is the Lighthouse Point Stamp set I used and the coordinationg Lighthouse Dies

First I did a little stamping on a piece of 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White Cardstock.  I actually stamped the sand and the water using the same stamp (the blotch with the straight line just below the sentiment “So Much Thanks” in the picture above.  For the sand,  I inked the stamp with Sahara Sand ink and placed the straight line of the stamp along the bottom of my Basic White Cardstock piece.  I then cleaned the stamp and inked it with Pool Party ink and stamped the ocean by placing the flat part of the stamp at the top so it would look like the ocean meets the sky.  I used a blending brush and very lightly gave the white “sky part”, just a tinge of blue using the same Pool Party Ink. Then I embossed the stamped piece using the Painted Textures Embossing Folder.  I did add just a touch more Pool Party ink after embossing as I wanted to highlight the embossed edges just a bit.

Next it was time to get out the Lighthouse Dies and do a little die cutting, which was easy-peasy.  There are dies for each of the pieces – the outside Basic White lighthouse, the inside Real Red piece to give the lighthouse some color, the Basic Black top and railing, and the light beam (which I chose to stamp in Daffodil Delight ink and then die cut.  Are you wondering how I got the “light” in the windows of the lighthouse?  Easy….I die cut the top from a piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock and used the “throw away pieces” by placing a dab of glue inside the window and putting the small pieces inside – it was kind of like putting a puzzle together.

  • Real Red Cardstock – Cut 3 ⅞” x 5 ⅛”, plus a scrap 3 ¼” x 1 ½” (lighthouse background)
  • Basic White Cardstock – Cut 3 ¾” x 5”, plus a scrap 2” x 5 ¼” (lighthouse) and 1” x 3 ⅓” (sentiment tag) and a piece cut 4” x 5 ¼” (inside)
