Who likes Halloween candy? Me! I like it because Fun size bars means I can have a treat without eating an entire large candy bar. And now who has purchased Halloween candy and the bag is half gone so you have to go out and buy more before Halloween? Me! Today I have a fun treat box to share with you. And if I put my “treats” inside, I’ll be less likely to eat them.
I first made these two years ago and thought that I had shared them with you, but I have searched my blog and can’t find a post. I needed some quick treat boxes to make to put in my new little “shop” at a local Artisan Shop. So I pulled the instructions out and made a few. You can’t tell from the angle above, but looking at the side view, you can see that they are triangle shaped.
The flap on the front is secured with a velcro dot and opens up to reveal the candy inside. Hard to believe it, but this little box can hold 3 of the snack size candy bars….plus a little message inside!
To make the box you will need a piece of 9 3/4” x 7” cardstock scored at 1 3/4”, 4 1/4” and 7 1/4” on the LONG side. And on the SHORT side score at 2” and 5”. Then use a ruler to make a tick mark on the LONG side at 5 3/4” on both sides of the cardstock. You’ll use the tick mark to make your diagonal score lines as shown in the cutting diagram below. The first diagram shows how the piece is scored. The boxes with an “X” are cut away, leaving you with a piece that looks like the picture on the right.
I used the Cutest Halloween Stamp Set and the coordinating Halloween Punch. You will also need the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper. And it is cute! The little ghosts, vampires, cats, pumpkins, skulls and lots of matching spooky designs. I used the cat and pumpkin paper on the lower right in the picture.
The fun thing about this piece is that you can punch the cat and Halloween images with the punch. (And the ghost in the top left paper can also be punched from the paper too!) And if you get out your Paper Snips, you can also cut the images out like this upside down vampire bat.
I used the Ornate Frames Dies for the “scrolled” frame around the sentiment…which is also die cut from the same set of dies….so they nest perfectly inside each other.
For a quick recap, these are the supplies you will need:
- Cutest Halloween Bundle (Cutest Halloween Stamp Set and Halloween Punch
- Basic Black cardstock – Cut 9 3/4” x 7”
- Score on the LONG side at 1 3/4”, 4 1/4” and 7 1/4”. Make a tick mark at 5 3/4” on both long edges for diagonal scoring
