Have you ever started one project and then got waylaid by an idea and suddenly you are doing something completely different? That’s what happened with this card. I was trying to CAS (copy and share) something I had seen and cut the wrong size pieces. Instead of just throwing them away, I was trying to figure out a way to use them….and this is what happened:

I was die cutting some triangles using the Stitched Triangle Dies for a framed sampler and cut the wrong size triangles. This is a great die set as not only are there lots of triangle dies in all different sizes, but there are different kinds of triangles too – Right Triangles, Equilateral Triangles and Isosceles Triangles (thanks to my geometry teacher that I even remember that!) The names don’t matter, you just need to know that you have lots of choices!

By layering the three triangles on top of each other, I discovered that they look like a Christmas tree. Now all I needed was a tree trunk. I wanted to keep the same stitched look as the triangles, so I chose one of the Rectangle Stitched Dies and a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock to make the trunk.

I used a piece of the Tis the Season Designer Series Paper for my background and then used dimensionals to pop up the tree a little bit. For a bit of flying by the seat of my pants putting this together, I do like how it came out.

If you would like to try this card, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Stitched Triangle Dies
- In The Pines Stamp Set (sentiment)
- Rectangle Stitched Dies (tree trunk)
- Soft Suede Cardstock – Cut 4 ¼” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 ½”, plus a scrap for tree trunk
- Shaded Spruce Cardstock – Cut 5 ¼” x 4”, plus scraps for 3 triangles
- Tis the Season Designer Series Paper – Cut 3 ⅞” x 5 ⅛”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 ¼” x 4” (inside) and ½” x 2 ½” (sentiment)
