Misty Moonlight Monday Blues – Jar of Flowers

It is no secret that blue is my favorite color.  Given a choice of colors, I always choose blue.  So I’m celebrating the Monday blues today with a blue card!

This shade of blue is one of the five new 2020-2022 In-Colors called Misty Moonlight.  And it does look like a moonlit night.  I paired the Misty Moonlight cardstock with one of the Misty Moonlight pieces from the 2020-2022 In-Color Designer Series Papers.

The stamp set I used is called Jar of Flowers and has two different size jars as well as four different flower groupings to stamp.  You can see one of the other flower groupings in this post – Jar of Flowers = Jar of Sunshine!.

I chose to color the flowers on my card today with Stampin’ Blends Markers in another blue shade – Seaside Mist along with Daffodil Delight and Just Jade.

There is a little trick to getting the flowers to look like they are actually sitting in the jar and that is to use a masking technique.  Using a Post-It note, stamp the flower design on the Post-It note making sure that the bottom of the flower design is stamped where the sticky side is on the back.  The cut on out the flowers on the lines.  You’ll use this piece to mask the flowers and stamp both the jar and the stems.

First stamp the flowers on your piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Then place the Post-It Note mask piece directly on top of where you stamped.  Next stamp the jar placing the neck of the jar above the edge of the masked piece.  Then stamp the stems in the same manner – inking the stamp and stamping just above the edge of the masked piece.

Remove the Post-It note mask piece and Ta-Da!  The flowers look like they are sitting in the jar!

And I almost forgot to mention that I also used one of the new In-Color ribbons….yes, you are right…it’s 1/4” Misty Moonlight ribbon, that also happens to coordinate with the new Misty Moonlight ink.
