Pine Trees & Perfectly Plaid

Had a little delay in getting this posted….so it’s now only 96 days until Christmas!

Unless you’ve been perusing Stampin’ Up’s 2019 Holiday Catalog, you might not know that this post is going to contain a Christmas Card.  I know it’s early for Christmas….Today marks the 100th day until Christmas!  But I needed to make a card for a team card swap and the challenge was to use supplies from the Holiday catalog…..so here it is….my first Christmas card for 2019.

The stamp set I used is called Perfectly Plaid and it is bundled with this cute little Pine Tree Punch.  You can purchase these separately….but why would you when you can purchase both as a Bundle and save 10%?

The middle tree (and the strip on the inside of the card) are both from the Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper.  This paper is 6” x 6” and there are 4 each of 12 double sided designs….plaid on one side and another coordinating pattern on the other.  This is going to be fun paper to play with, especially since there are a lot of gold accents in the plaid!

And because of that I decided that my card should have gold in it too!  I used the Gold Foil Sheets as a layer for the card and also used the Pine Tree Punch to cut out another one.  To give it a little texture, I used a new embossing folder – Hammered Metal to give it more dimension.

And I wasn’t finished with the gold either!  There are also three new inks in the Holiday catalog!  I chose the Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink to stamp the tree design on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock before I punched it out.  If you look closely, you’ll see it’s shiny too!   These inks are going to make great additions to my cards this year!

And then I finished off the card with a little ribbon….and yes that has gold in it too!….right down the middle.  This was a fun and easy card to make, so I’ll hope you’ll give it a try.  These are the supplies that you’ll need:

  • Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set
  • Pine Tree Punch
  • Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder
  • Hammered Metal Embossing Folder
  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, Score and fold at 4 1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5” x 3 3/4” , and cut a piece 5 1/4” x 4 (inside)
  • Gold Foil Sheets – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”.  (I punched the tree and the scalloped oval out of this piece – don’t worry it get’s covered up by the top layer!)
  • Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper – scrap for tree and a strip 3/4” x 5 1/4”
  • SNAIL or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin Dimensionals (plaid tree & sentiment) Tear & Tape (ribbon), Mini Glue Dots (bow)
  • Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink
  • Paper Snips

Here’s a peak at the inside.  Even though I can write on the inside….it is white!, I prefer to add another layer because I think it gives the card a more finished look.
